Tabloid 'news' papers nothing but trash

38 comments  Add a comment

When the hell will tabloids start reporting the news and stop ruining people's lives?  News media should report the news not take sides and vilify those involved, after all it's supposed to be news not entertainment.  They have completely compromised their integrity and neutrality so I am forced to ask the question, what role do they perform in society that cant be carried out in full by a soap opera (which by the way would be far less damaging as people would go into it knowing it was fabricated!).

What role?  This Max Mosely thing has been the last straw as far as I'm concerned although his name could be substituted with any name on a long long list.  The problem is this, there are people out there who actually believe what they read in the 'Red Top' papers and think that A) this man did something that is disgusting and wrong (because the paper told them to think that) and B) he should lose his job for it.  WHAT?  What he did he did with consenting adults and I'm sorry but the bottom line is everyone has something in their dirty little minds that they like and others would find offensive (Don't lie to yourself.  You do!).  Secondly he didn't do it at work so how is this related to his job?

Tabloid newspapers The same thing has happened to scores of people so I think every time a paper prints a smear campaign we should all be allowed a good look at the skeletons in the closets of the journalist and the editor and then see how happy they are to say that your work life should be at the mercy of your private (ill say it again PRIVATE) actions.  I know I'm going on so I promise ill end soon but I want first to say this to all the 'freedom of speech' bandwagon jumpers; If this sort of thing is what we choose to exercise that right on then we, all of us, deserve to have the right stricken from us.

We turn our heads to the hungry and the needy so we can spend more time reading about celebrity x, y and z and how much we should loathe them because that's what we are told to do!!  I'm not trying to preach or even to say that I am totally immune to devices such as these but what I am saying put simply is this; Tabloid news papers want to make sales and they are willing to do that even if it means taking sides on a situation that they should, MUST, just observe and when they cross that line they are about as useful to society for reporting the news as a science fiction book.

Daily Mail feeds on destroying people but I quit reading when it started printing fake news to do so. For several days it attacked the Covington kid, no mercy spared, several articles per day condemning this kid. Story turned out to be false yet DM had no apology, retraction, nothing. Hope DM is included in the kid's lawsuit. I've seen DM harass people in rehabs; celebs who are trying to get help with no sources listed. Fake news at DM abounds like the Jussie Smollett stories - day after day, sensational headlines about "poor Jussie" - turned out to be a hoax yet again, no apology, retraction. Glad when Mrs. Trump brought a lawsuit against DM for a story calling her an escort - she won, over a million and DM had to print a retraction. Go elsewhere for information, you'll be glad you did.

Worst one I've seen is today's Daily Mail where Kit Harrington is at a private facility trying to get help for some issues. DM invades the facility campus and takes pictures of him then brags an "exclusive." How low can you go?

"I just read yesterday's Daily Mirror and guess what article is on page 7? An article about a pill which could prolong cancer patients' lives for years! And guess what's on pages 4 and 5? Ryan Giggs sleeping with his brother's wife! I will not read that trash again!"

This is a good comment also, this type of thing all papers seem to do. Something newsworthy and worthwhile relegated to the inner pages, whilst salacious gossip, tittle tattle and similar mindless drivel make the headlines.

"If people didn't display a prurient interest in these nonentities there would be no tabloid gutterpress to excrete their daily doings"

Exactly the point. Well said - for those who criticise the media (and it has to be said the media do have a lot to answer for) - should look deeper into the detritus of the population for a fair share of the blame. What would happen to such useless publications as OK, HELLO, etc magazines if no one bought them?

...and the Sun does love to mince on and on and on and on and on about the so called 'nations sweetheart' Cheryl.

Who are these members of the general public who need to know every single piece of minutia of what this creature does all the time?

What's wrong with the web design at the Daily Express? Log on to their site and the page jumps around like an eel on steroids. It's just not worth visiting anymore - even if the newspaper might have a little substance - they're so greedy for advertising revenue the website is totally useless. Who in their right mind is going to pay for this sort of garbage? Thank goodness for Infowars, RT News, and AJE - all free, and all entirely watchable. God Save the People!

Ooooh Mince! Lets have a look at the Daily M(F)ail today, and see what qualifies as news..

Oooh the showbiz reporters are out again mincing on about people in the public eye's appearance or what handbag they have; and then criticising them, royal wedding, royal wedding, royal wedding, royal wedding, royal wedding, royal wedding, royal wedding, royal wedding, royal wedding, royal wedding, royal wedding, royal wedding.

Let there be no mistake about it, we need the press and television. We need them to investigate on our behalf abuses and incompetence in public life, we need them to reveal scandals that would otherwise be safely squirreled away by politicians and civil servants, we need them to alert us to the excesses of the politically motivated enthusiasts and jobsworth apologists for global warming, political correctness, elf'n'safety and unbridled immigration - yes, for a thousand reasons we need them. Without the media our lives would be ruled even more completely than they are, by shadowy, untouchable, self-seeking officials in town halls up and down the country.

But God, can't they be a bunch of w*nk*rs sometimes?

Reality is perpetrated by media people who have very tiny brains and can't be a***d to look around them and make their work reflect the real world they live in, instead of the artificial one that's built up over the years in books, films, plays and TV programmes (?Downton Abbey?. And don't we all love it?).

I quite like The Sun - but I prefer Andrex. It tends to leave no print on the skin. ;)

The problem is with readers, not newspapers. The red top rags are simply fulfilling demand. Part of the general public are solely responsible for the rise and popularity of all forms of dumbed down trash culture.

When will people realise this?
