Valentine's Day is here again and the shops are going crazy just falling over each other to ram those stupid romantic gifts down your throat at every opportunity. Every other shop window is filled with red roses, heart shaped cards and of course chocolates.
If you're in a relationship there's an amazing amount of pressure to buy this tacky rubbish and to be honest I think it is more aimed at women than men. I reckon most guys aren't really bothered, but the girlfriends expect some sort of token on the 14th of February or there will be hell to pay!
I'll bet that some of you are thinking that if the boys had been more appreciative of their partners throughout the year, then they wouldn't have to go out to impress on Valentine's Day. Apparently men aren't that good at remembering important dates anyway!
Should you happen to not be in a relationship at this time of year, you don't get an easy ride either. In fact, for those people unfortunate enough to be made single around this time of year, Valentine's Day can be a painful reminder with all the commercial stuff, the cards, the hearts, flowers, chocolate, fluffy teddy bears etc. in the shops. On the radio and the TV there are endless messages of love and romance. It really makes you feel very much more lonely than you would at any other time of year.
just another excuse to spend money on junk...
Actually, the whole spectacle just irritates me; particularly the way some couples just lap it up and get sucked into the whole thing. It's nothing more than yet another commercially driven extravaganza just like Christmas and Easter.
Valentine?s Day has become just another excuse to spend money on junk that has no substantial value. Spend your money instead on a few spontaneous meals now and then and a nice bottle of wine, or even better save up and have a nice holiday together.

Chocolate ownership and prices in this country of them is absolutely absurd.

The difference between commitment and debauchery appears to have been lost in the annals of time.
Therefore once a year does a bunch of flowers and a card show love or guilt.
Save your money and buy her a house its cheaper in the long run.

Although its nice to dream I guess.

Let the monster walk the streets tonight.
Let the demon out of yourself.

And there my dear love sits him down, sits him down,
And drinks his wine 'mid laughter free,
And never, never thinks of me.
Chorus:
Fare thee well, for I must leave thee,
Do not let the parting grieve thee,
And remember that the best of friends must part, must part
Adieu, adieu, kind friends adieu, adieu, adieu,
I can no longer stay with you, stay with you,
I'll hang my harp on a weeping willow tree,
And may the world go well with thee.
