I'm almost afraid to turn on the news now in case I hear something else that makes me angry. Actually, it's a cross between angry, upset and downhearted. It's been steadily getting worse and this is far more distressing than COVID ever was in my opinion.
The war in Ukraine has raged on for three years now and in that time each day I turn on the news looking for the signs that good people might triumph over evil. That's not happening though, in fact it's getting far worse since Trump became president again. How the hell did that happen anyway? I don't understand how normal people could possibly vote for someone like him. He's only been in the door five minutes and is already creating chaos around the world.
The bad people truly are in control. Take a look around the world, we've got Trump, Putin (of course), Xi Jinping, Kim Jong Un, Lukashenko, Viktor Orban and I'd like to include India's Modi in that list as well (cheap Russian oil anyone?). It's not an extensive list by any means. Fortunately most of Europe and and I'll include the UK here seem to be governed by more benevolent leaders.
The recent actions of Trump and his cronies (Vance, Musk etc.) in regards to Ukraine have left me bewildered. How did this happen? I'm sure a fair number of people around the world are thinking the same. As Trump and Putin busy themselves deciding how they'll exploit Ukraine's natural resources all we can do is look on and it kind of reminds me of two school bullies discussing how to steal a little kid's lunch money. It's all about greed, and that's what this war is ultimately about.
I'm relieved that our government and the good countries of Europe are to continue to stand by Ukraine in their efforts to repel the Russian invaders. If things were different I'd be making my voice heard. Why aren't Americans speaking up about Trump - or do the vast majority of them agree with what he's doing and saying?
