Oculus Rift VR headset to cost $599 and be shipped in March

The Oculus Rift virtual reality headset has been put on sale at a price of $599, over £410 in the UK!

Pre-orders for the CV1 version of the headset are now officially open and the device can be bought via the Oculus website.

Anyone ordering the headset now should have it shipped to them in March.

So Oculus Rift have finally got round to telling us when we can by the much anticipated VR headset and how much it's going to cost.

It's creator once said "If VR isn't affordable it might as well not exist for most people.  We're not looking to make a rich person's toy".   All I can say is "what a hefty price tag", and by the way you've completely missed your target if this was meant to be affordable!

I was very interested in buying this, but not at that price.  What a stupid move on behalf of Oculus.  One thing is certain and that is that Sony and HTC with their Vive are probably rubbing their hands right now.  What a golden opportunity for them!
