Dishwasher tablets not working properly

22 comments  Add a comment

Dishwasher tablets don't exactly work as well as the manufacturers say they do in the glossy celebrity packed adverts.  So you've cooked a beautiful lasagne using only the freshest ingredients. Fresh sheet pasta flown in from Italy, tomatoes from the vine in Tuscany etc.  or maybe like me you just bought the ingredients at a local supermarket!

Either way you have prepared, cooked and served a beautiful meal and then it's time to clean up.  Now if like so many of us, you may well have the labour saving wonder of a dishwasher to use.  They're heaven sent because you just load it up and set it off.  Around forty minutes later a load of clean sparkling crockery and cutlery appears as if by magic!

Well thats what is supposed to happen.  But wait a minute, whats that on the lasagne dish?  It's a bit of stuck on pasta that was supposed to be cleaned when you used brand *** dishwasher tablets with a super new improved best ever formula etc.  Well the super improved tablets don't work do they?  No, its not just this time, its EVERY time I cook lasagne, scrambled eggs or practically any recipe containing milk or eggs.

A full dishwasher Never again have to pre-wash anything...

I don't actually mind that the thing is marked and I have to do it by hand, but I really object to the adverts telling me I'll never again have to pre-wash anything before I put it in the dishwasher if I use their new improved (and more expensive) product!

Too late now as I have had to retrieve the lasagne bowl, soak it for a few hours in HOT soapy water and then rewash it by hand!

If there are any product designers and marketing people out there working for these companies, please take up my offer.  One month in my house cleaning up every day crockery from routine cooking and please, bring your cameras along too because Id love to show the truth.  Its quite a different story to the shiny advert with the overpaid celebrities and the magic dishwasher tablets!

Look forward to hearing from you real soon (yes I know, maybe thats a bit optimistic?)

Tesco value dishwasher tablets are great. Or just wash by hand is even better.

You're lucky to have a dishwasher (tablets working or not). I still have to clean the dishes by hand.

Sid....give it a rest will you. The guy was just trying to make a point. Must you really nit pick so much?
Your comment about having nothing serious to worry about is unfair. This griper has an issue with a product that does not do what it says in the tin. Fair enough. As a consumer they have a right to gripe. These tablets are anything but cheap and therefore it IS a serious issue when they fail to work.

By all means comment in a rational manner and make your point, but please don't indulge in non constructive nit picking.

Well thank you for your pompous contribution Anon. Just too self-centred to take on board anyone's view other than your own.

As you do not know the author (you said so yourself) you cannot know that he cares about orphans. Your hypothesis is therefore based on assumption. In this case the assumption that the author is decent and cares about orphans. One would hope so, but as you cannot be certain, you can only say that you are "certain" out of some moral belief that he/she has similar values to you. It is your use of the word certain that is the issue in your case, not whether the issue is large or small.

Sid, I've explained myself twice and you still contradict yourself in each response while not actually listening to mine. I won't stoop to your level any further. Enjoy.

Well you just need to be more mindful of what certainty is. The point of this website is not necessarily your point. Or is it? Are you saying if anyone wants to comment on this website that it should be close to what you think it should be? You seem to be suggesting this.

If someone wants to gripe about something trivial, then they are free to do that. What you don't seem to understand is that I am within my rights to comment adversely about their gripe. I personally feel this gripe is incredibly trivial and in the scheme of things it clearly is.

It is clear to me that you don't know what the point of this website is either. But try not to get a bee in your bonnet about it.

Sid,

What? You say you are happy to allow them to air grivences and that you do not object - yet your first comment was objecting (asking if they had something more serious to worry about!).

I don't have a problem with your point of view because I was sticking up for being allowed to gripe at will. What I have a problem with is you thinking this 'somehow makes [my] view more morally valid'? Thats absolute crap. I said gripe about large or small issues - I fail to see how morality enters into that.

I do not know the author personally but I would like to remain hopeful that the general population thinks about larger issues as well as more mundane ones.

I think you have a bee in your bonnet and are still missing the point of the website.

Hi Anon,

I am happy that the Griper (Gravallax) wants to air this grievance. I do not object, one bit, to his wish to do this.

However, you clearly have a problem with my point of view. I don't mind that either. However, I take issue with your belief in your certainty, as if it somehow makes your view more morally valid. You conveniently fail to say that you know Gravallax personally. Unless you do, how can you possibly say with any certainty that he/she cares about orphans?

Sid, the whole point of this website is to air your issues, however small, and get them off your chest. As I am certain the author of the gripe cares about orphans, I can be certain you are entirely missing the point.

Have you got a job, or something serious to actually worry about?

Go clue up about Bulgarian orphanages, then see if your dishwasher nightmare even registers.

Sorry, but you're away with the fairies!
