What is it with the police force? It would seem that in the modern day they are more concerned with the motorist who is going a few miles per hour over the limit , has a number plate light not working or a personalised number plate that is not "LEGALLY SPACED" than actually going out and stopping real criminals! Seriously? The spacing on your number plate - that's what that fine was for??
As far as I'm concerned, the personalised number plate is kind of a double edged sword. On the one hand the DVLA are happy to sell personalised number plates to individuals and price them accordingly knowing full well that they are going to be tweaked to suit the individual's name or business etc. They think that the small disclaimer they have about altering the plate is should suffice, that the individual must pay the consequences if stopped by the police.
As I see it the DVLA are exploiting the law as much as the motorist but are not being punished for it. It's about time motorists were allowed a bit more freedom and leeway just like the real criminals that are out there that get their cases dropped because their name has been spelled incorrectly by a so called "professional" police officer.
After all, what serious crime is the motorist really committing with a personalised plate that has illegal spacing between the letters and numbers? This country is far back in the dark ages and politicians so blinkered it makes me wonder where it will all end. Too many jobsworth coppers and people who think they are do-gooders in this stupid country.
