Illegal unregistered schools face prosecution

A special taskforce of inspectors has been set up to seek out unregistered schools that are operating outside the law in England. Chief Inspector of Schools Michael Wilshaw says there is a serious threat to the safety of children.

Three of the unregistered schools found were operating in Birmingham in recent weeks, one has been named as Bordesley Independent School.  Books found were described as inappropriate, with texts including "misogynistic, homophobic and anti-Semitic material".

From the news article: "Ofsted says it found a narrow Islam-focused curriculum in all the schools it unearthed."

In my view faith schools have no place in British society, Muslim or otherwise.  A little religious education (all religions) can open the minds of young children to the diversity of the world, but to solely focus on the texts of one religion is so very, very wrong in my opinion.

I would advocate that all these religious schools be shut down immediately.  How are these children going to grow up with respect and acceptance of British values if they have little or no knowledge of what it means to be British?  The answer is they won't and are possibly more likely to be susceptible to radicalization.
