Rude teenagers have no manners

60 comments  Add a comment

I've noticed for a long while that people (particularly teenagers) just don't seem to have nay manners nowadays and they'd rather shove you out of the way than wait a couple of seconds.  It's a long time since I've heard the words 'Excuse me'.  People just can't be bothered to open their mouths and say these very simple words.  It's obviously far easier to push their way through.

For example this afternoon I was travelling by bus home from the town centre.  It was one of those long, single-decker buses where there's a step up towards the back and the seats are higher.

I sat in the window seat, in the lower part of the bus.  Anyway, a couple of teenage girls got on and went for the seat behind me.

Bus seats on a moving bus I ducked my head as you invariably get clouted with people's bag as they sit down in those 'higher up' seats.

All was well until I felt a sharp blow to my head and something crashing onto my back.  I put my head right down and then turned round to ask what was going on.

she lost her balance and toppled over...

One of the girls just said "Can you open the window, then?"  This idiot behind me had stood up in her seat and reached over my head to try and open the window next to me.  When the bus went round a corner of course she lost her balance and toppled over, she knocked my head and fell onto my back.  In different circumstances the silly girl could have done much worse.

So, no apology.  No "please".  Just an order barked at me to open the window.  I'm absolutely stunned by this and would love to know - are teenagers this rude where you live?

From what I have experienced on various occasions from multiple people, people in general seem to be very ignorant and disrespectful of others, regardless of age.

I always try to be respectful and treat people politely, However it is often simply returned with rudeness and disrespect, which I am completely sick of. Many of the ignorant, rude and prejudiced comments that have so far been posted on this board are also further proof of this.

'Drake', I don't see why teenagers should have to put up with horrible, selfish, shallow-minded people like you. Open your eyes and in fact you will see that yes, although there are some horrid teenagers out there, there are equally as many horrible adults. You are extremely stereotypical of a certain age group and in fact you sound quite horrid yourself! I don't understand why everybody thinks all teenagers are selfish, swearing, smoking, drinking monsters when in fact that is only a very very small minority. I know as I am one and go to school with these people daily. And what you say about technology I dislike it and know MANY ADULTS who are obsessed. If you're going to have such strong opinions at least base them on some truth and not just your own arrogant view :(

atomic, you've lost me with "disibling". Is it something to do with removing excessive amounts of flashy jewellery?

It is irritating to see so many posts condeming teenagers because a few are rude and proclaiming all elderly people to are angels.

Also "Drake" you should be ashamed for suggesting that, you were once a teenager and do you not remember ever once not realizing that you have hit someone with your shopping bag or something?Teachers should be able to disibling kids because that is not thier god damn job, they should not be able to hit or verbally abuse a child becasue the child is not behaving as they want them to and if the teachers "need" to use these methods or want ot use them they are not fit to teacher children.

I would sugget blaming the parents-you know the adults- who raised them to be like that.Noot the kids who dont know any better

I have never yet come across a decent teenager it is the curse that adults must live with im afraid. If I had my way they would all be shipped off to a desolate island and kept in Nazi like quarantene till they are 30 then if they are decent law abidding people with manners and a brain to think about anything more than their own arrogant self centred world then let them back out. Teens today have a worse approach to life and their elders because they have so many luxuries. Mobile phones that cost a fortune clothes that cost a fortune and lets not forget the fact that they grew up or are growing up in a society where parents and teachers can no longer discipline them without fear of iether being victimized or reported for falsely beating on them. Yes I really hate teenagers with a passion and i dont care if people dislike this opinion. Im tired of their constant rudeness arrogance and lack of understanding of anything except "I WANT !!!!" id gladly see to it they were all shipped off somewhere till they grew up if I could and some id probably just lock away and throw away the damn key and do the rest of society a favour. Why should older generations have to put up with teenagers dreadful behaviour???? We shouldnt and yet the do gooders come up front and say "Oh you cant smack them!" "You cant do this to them " blah blah blah....Well I say bring bak the leather strap and the ruler and the slipper and bring back sending teenagers to strict diciplinarian schools and that way we might all be able to have a bit more respect proffered towards us when we are unfortunate enough to encounter them!

Whislt I can see what you are moaning about is perfectly valid (that girl would have got a mouthful of articulate abuse from me!) it does make me laugh because we have been saying this for hundreds of years - in Chaucer's day it was documented how rude and bad the young people were - that was 600 years ago!

It's your fault because you didn't speak up. You should've said "okay, first things first, when you fall on someone you say excuse me." After she apologizes, you say "okay, now if you want me to open the window, that's fine, but "can you open this window then" is not what you say when you want something."

Remember, stupid kids need to be spoken to like they're stupid kids. You're an adult. It's your duty to educate the ignorant and the uncivilized, the same way the British tried to educate savage peoples they colonized.

"A few bad apples spoil the bunch"? I didn't realise that apples came in bunches. Isn't it "one bad apple spoils the barrel"? Does it matter? I suppose not.
