Can you have your say on the BBC website?
Yeah right, if only! I would like to gripe about the media, and in particular the BBC. They are supposed to be unbiased but the moderators on the "Have your say" forums seem to reject the many valid and non-offensive comments I post - presumably because the truth really hurts!
My guess is that these are part and parcel of the problems with the media in general. The news that gets out is only what they want the public to hear, and they basically conceal everything else! I have made some constructive comments which were true and probably quite valid (in my opinion), but because they were a bit too much for the BBC dimwits to accept - they simply rejected them.
Have Your Say is full of this kind of thing. Someone can make a comment which has no substance to it and it gets published, but a more constructive one is rejected as if it is offensive. Why?? Some user-names reflect the rejection of their comments by the BBC on a regular basis, which basically means they are fed up of NOT having their say published.
If people in control are not prepared to accept fair comment and reflect a true view from society, then more people need to stand up and get this suppression exposed. Moderation is one thing, but censorship (cherry picking?) is quite another thing. Obviously the BBC wouldn't want to highlight it's own failings and maybe the media in general wouldn't be too happy, but with sites like The Weekly Gripe and others, perhaps with the Internet we can break this glass ceiling of truth exposure enforced upon us by the media.
Why do these cowards hiding behind cyberspace not face up to the truth and actually allow people to "have their say". I know how the Chinese feel now!

There was nothing inflammatory, racist, obscene, or abusive, simply disagreement with their views about the FIFA corruption scandal.
It said :
"Whilst they're investigating Blatter and his henchmen, they ought to cast their minds back to the financial r@pe of South Africa last year and be made to pay back what that little jaunt will cost the taxpayers. No doubt the ANC and the big businessmen did well out of it with the sweeteners, but for the 'man in the street' it was an unmitigated disaster. Most of the FIFA branded rubbish was made in China and local traders weren't allowed to sell anything within a certain distance of the stadia.
Still, that's the result of voting for 'democracy' in Africa."
(Unless it was the r@pe word!)

Shame on you, BBC. Pathetic.

Rather surprisingly in my view, the HYS moderators refused to remove the comments in question. So I constructed my own post, using all of the extracts from the other posts that I had complained about. It was promptly censored.
The difference was that my post criticised the use of these comments.

In an extreme example, I notice today (16th October 2010) that comments on a topic about the defence cuts ("How much should the UK spend on defence?") were closed again almost immediately after the topic opened.

Something stinks at the BBC, that's for sure.

If you are interested the cattle are meant to be suffering from Bovine TB and as everyone knows Bovine refers to Cattle, and my question that they do not want to answer is "It is not just as likely that the Badgers catch it from the cattle as the other way round"?-We do not have to SLAUGHTER every Badger in the County, far better to slaughter the AMs !
How can you be so judgemental about someone wanting to make a comment whose view wasn't included?
At ieast he was constructive whereas you were looking for assumptions to undermine him.
I will give my view that you call everyone who tries to put things right something which might offend because you are like a coward on The Weakest Link trying to undermine strengths.
You seem to lack self-esteem like a cousin I have who cannot say anything good about anyone - and never gets his facts right.
When did you last update your brain?

HYS only seems to post commenst that are right wing and some commenst are beyond decency
Its just a site for the loony Right wing to vent steam amd spleen
I have posted numerous well reasoned and morally sound logical posts ..alll rejected ..yet they post the rants of bigots and idiots
The noose is slowly tightening and cutting off the blood supply, before long we will be in a constant state of fear and trepidation, yet this is only psychological, we need to make sure they don't get a firm foothold, in fact, it should be the reverse, they should fear the people!
It takes a strong mind and caring heart to win over this evil, stop paying the tv license for one! I don't pay mine and have had a few visits but they know they cannot do anything. I simply refuse to fund terrorism, that is what we are talking about in the end isn't it?

However, if you really want to see biased moderators... head on over to the Sky news website. Not only do they seem to reject your comments if they *aren't* racist ramblings, but their discussion website is just full of racist posts that Sky seem to advocate seeing as they let them stay up, but don't publish any comments that criticise or go against the Sky editorial agenda.
What's the point of asking for comments if they're only going to publish the ones that agree with them?
Sums up many in control behind the scenes.
