Sky Plus and regular Sky have both proved to be a waste of money and time as far as I am concerned.  I started in happy, positive mood by installing a dish on top of my roof which is 5 stories up, scaffolding erected to bring the cables down and into the correct locations, engineers cabling under floors and connecting up to a central internal box, and a shiny white Sky Plus box installed.

I took out a contract with Sky Plus but found I never used it and I didn't really need any of the programs so I cancelled and went over to simple digital reception.  During the works to install Sky the existing aerial was wired through the Sky dish and the four TV points in the house therefore now all go through the dish in order to get a sky or digital signal.

To my surprise after just 12 months and a week the Sky Plus box died.  A fuse had blown in the house and that killed the box and it was no longer under the year's guarantee.  My engineer came to disconnect Sky and get me a digital signal for the one digibox installed in one room.  I then ordered an ordinary Sky box, instead of another digibox because I enjoy Euronews very much and the digibox doesn't access that channel.

It took 10 days to arrive and finally the engineer came over to install it; another pocket of money down what was becoming a much larger financial drain that I had ever anticipated.  The next problem was with Sky - I had to cancel the existing card for the Sky Plus and get a new card.  This took three weeks to arrive, at this point I had to start a new contract for signal and free to view only.  This started up a month of aggravation, telephone calls, letters, their demands, threats, etc.  It was a battle on my part to convince Sky that I no longer wanted a contract for any pay program with them.

Now, less than six months later my Sky box died, last night - no power outage, no accidents, just a quiet death.

Sky Dish, wasting money on Sky

I no longer want Sky anywhere near me.  I will get a digibox for my other TV, and eventually a digital TV.  However, I am now sceptical about all this new TV technology - I believe that many of the basic concepts involved in the new age of TV reception revolution are seriously flawed and there is no proper regulation or watchdog.  The government needs to step in and take some form of stand on this to help protect and advise us of our rights.

For me, well, I am getting used to watching less and less TV.  Maybe that is no bad thing.  A good book beckons on the nearby table.

No value for money - I down graded my channels to the cheapest one which was £16+ a month which includes sky 123 and a couple off other channel which are rubbish what a rip off, only to find i'll have to pay extra for sky sports news which I get free from my freeview box in my other room. Sky then said I would get euro sport with that as well.. wow!!! Who watches euro sport?

I then asked why should I pay for it when I get it free on freeview and sky had no answer! I really cant believe we as customers sit there and take it and let sky con the crap out of us and we do about it.

Sky make massive profit and what do we get back nothing of any value!

I have taken out Sky plus and sky broadband, before I had BT which was a bit expensive for me and I had move homes so I thought I would try a bit of change. Big mistake Sky broadband is the worst my PC started to act funny connection were bad, at first the Internet was OK and fast and I was happy after having sky broadband for 3 days I came home and there was no no Internet, I contacted sky and they ask you a million and one question I found I couldn't understand their accents and I had to ask the question over and over before I understood. They started to ask me about my connection and I tole them the phone line is in a different room they suggest I unplug the modem and plug it directly in the phone line I said if I do that the line will be disconnected and I won't be able to talk to you he said if it gets cut off don't worry speak to another agent which I found very annoying have to re-dial answer all the question explain what was previously been happening and then they all have a different answer one agent say yes and the other said no.

I went on to say I cannot unplug the modem as the PC is not in the room the phone line is in so I still will not see if the connection is better they suggest I unplug the PC bearing in mind a PC consist of the CPU, monitor, keyboard and a mouse and I should lift all these to see if connection is better. I then noticed when I'm talking on the phone my broadband work as soon as I hang up a minute later it stops.

I continued having problems and my PC picked up a lot of virus, it is very slow and the connection sometimes doesn't come up I have to wait ages and its annoying and I'm still paying they always seem to blame BT saying its my phone line and nothing Sky technician does or tells you to do never helps this is my worst experience dealing with a company.

Sky is the biggest rip-off going. £60+ for a call out, if they have to replace the sky box, it RECONDITIONED, that's if they've bothered to do it. They can up the price of packages at any time, the list is endless. This digital tv things is a license to GET MONEY OUT OF US.

Freeview is not bad, but VERY LIMITED
