Fed up with the World Cup on TV and in the news
So its World Cup time again is it? You wouldn’t have guessed, would you? Every four years we have to endure this torture and put up with weeks of football on the telly and in the news.
Everywhere you turn there’s something going on to do with the world cup and I for one, am getting fed up with it. It’s because there’s no way to escape from it – that’s the real problem!
During the peak of all this rubbish there are precious few pubs you can go into without having to suffer the commotion and yelling is dozens of drunken Englishmen hurl profanities at whatever player has earned their contempt during the game. I don’t mind the fact that pubs have these dedicated sports evenings and show football matches, but does it have to be in nearly ALL of them? There’s probably a reasonable portion of the population who either have no interest in the World Cup, or actually dislike it. What about us? We just want to enjoy a night out in the local without being drowned out every time someone scores a goal.
We’ve had the phenomenon of the St. Georges cross flags flying from cars for quite a while now. But tune into any radio station now and you’ll hear a rapid succession of World Cup songs, each one as pathetic as the last one. Where do they get these from and why do they immediately make me want to turn off my radio?
Another thing that annoys me about big sporting events like this is the way the big companies try to cash in on it with all their consumer crap. They’re basically just leeching off the real football fanatics and the kids who are no doubt caught up in the excitement and will pester their parents for the latest gear. It just makes me sick.
Here’s an example, in the petrol station the other day when I spotted this stupid plastic coca-cola beaker. It was selling for around £4, but who in their right mind would fork out that kind of cash for a stupid glass because it says something about the world cup on it?
Come on; let’s make the World Cup every ten years instead of every four.

Now maybe you working class people can get back to work or to your dole queue.
Incidentally, Brazil 2014 has been canceled. FIFA has decided to scrap the event proper and simply ask Paul who to award the trophy to.
poor game but congratulations to Spain
Howard Webb, Darren Cann & Mike Mllarkey all had a great tournament.
roll on 2014 in Brazil
yes I agree England were pathetic, so were the officials.
But Football is still and will always be known as 'the beautiful game'
one reason we lost no sunderland players in the team.
thats if you know were sunderland are in england?
and what are people from sunderland called mike p & a..o.d.
thats if you know
Talk about bad losers - even if the referee made had allowed the disputed goal, that would not have affected the outcome, humiliation and defeat for England. What a waste of time and money, and how destructive for the environment to have so many peope flying around the world to watch a bunch of she-men kicking a pig's bladder around.
I only hope for their sake that the oafs who call themselves England supporters don't fall foul of the police tonight.

England's WORST EVER! world cup defeat. Yes germany was excellent, can't say the same about the linesman and referee though!!! ~ We only lost because 'the team' never mentally recovered from the disallowed goal [period] ~ world cup farce I.M.H.O. ~ THANK YOU FIFA officials for your horrendous blunder!!!
how dare you insult PEOPLE who watch or play Football.
I am als a Rugby fan (but if I could play sport I would have been a footballer).
loads of people at go to games are well behaved now.
and we are not poofs Steve coppell former footballer & manager has a degree in economics from liverpool university as I bet many others have degrees
and they raise money for charit, hold autograph sessions, visit sick kids
so stop slagging us followers of 'the beautiful game' off
]
Will you grow up.
up to now the WORLD CUP has been brilliant.
far better than SOAPS & DRAMA
which I find dull
compared to football 'the greatest game in the world'
played by real men
soon I will be at the stadium of light chanting & singing along with 49,000 other fans
I think it's perfectly demonstrable that the huge majority of them are uneducated, unintelligent, overpaid, and have appalling taste in women.
How dare you call FOOTBALLERS idiots,.
It is the number 1 sport in the country.
at least its better than the crap that's usually on the TV.
and another thing footballers & football fans are not thick.
So try watching football for a change you'll enjoy it.
I am totaly sick of it I detest football at the best of times. At the moment almost every tv or radio show is stuffing it down our throats, trying to tie in some irelivant football fact with the subject under discussion. It is about time that radio & TV folks realised that there is a very sizable proportion of the poulation who do not care one bit for the world cup or football. The only good this is the lack of trafic on the roads when the so called fans are at home, or in the pub, watchnimg a bunch of idiots kick a ball. Of course if england do loose then most of them will need to take geography lesons to find out where the other coutries are as it will still be on TV at every avaliable opertunity!!!
