SNP's Nicola Sturgeon announces new independence referendum bill

A consultation gets under way next week on plans for a second Scottish independence referendum, the SNP's Nicola Sturgeon has confirmed.

She told the party's Glasgow conference that an Independence Referendum Bill would be published next week.

It marks the first step to holding a second vote.

Ms Sturgeon said Scotland had the right to choose a different path if it was not allowed to protect its interests "within the UK".

My personal feeling is, that Nicola Sturgeon is doing this more for her own career than for the benefit of Scotland, and if she thinks that the average Scot wants to be part of the EU then I believe she's wrong on that count too.  Just like the major cities of England, Scotland too has a diverse population in those hubs with a great many workers coming from Europe (particularly Poland).  It should have come as no surprise th way the EU referendum went in Scotland

Now as for a second independence referendum.  We've already done that and I for one wouldn't want to do it again, particularly if it meant being part of Europe.

Last time I would have voted Yes.  If Europe is on the cards and Nicola Sturgeon is at the helm it will definitely be a resounding Naw!

She'll have to ask if she's allowed one first, or she might end up in a cell like the Catalonian president!

Scottish Nationalism would not have raised its ugly head again in a generation if it were not for those who voted Brexit.

Britain needs to remain united , inside the EU.

She seems to have forgotten that she can pass all the resolutions she likes (with a minority government) but the decision whether to allow her and "her people" a further referendum is a choice for Westminster.

If, and it's a big if, she can get a convincing majority for a referendum in Edinburgh there are many procedural ways to stall this at Westminster, not least by starting the Bill in the House of Lords.

The Poison Dwarf didn't get her way the first time so she's trying again! I hope the people of Scotland give the same result and maybe then she'll listen too them......

Great, I hope they vote for independence, then Jimmy Krankee and her followers can clear out of parliament and bugger off back over Hadrian's wall.
