My gripe is about pollution and the way car drivers are singled out as a major cause of pollution. As I am employed as an MOT tester myself, I find that most petrol engined cars do not pass the emissions test first time. More often than not you have to let the engine get hotter than it would get during normal driving conditions and then test the emissions again, this time most pass with flying colours.
So in real life most cars are polluting just as much as before as most rarely get up to a high temperature during normal driving as far as I can see. The current emissions test to my mind does not really make sense because of this.
Has the government ever looked at container ships and the pollution that they produce? Come to think about it, when we're talking about pollution, how about China and their industry? Then there's India too and all the other developing countries that are polluting.
Stop blaming the motorist just because we love driving - go tax something else! It won't be long before they are taxing bicycles or walkers or the amount of air that we breathe.....
