Sky HD box faults and TV compatibility

I'm on my 11th Sky HD Box, yes 11, and finally I think the problem may about to be resolved.  Our first Sky HD box (Pace) was fine, until Sky recalled the boxes, and we were given a reconditioned Thomson box.  We were not given any reason for the change, although now I do know what the reason was.

Sky had to introduce an encrytion facility on their boxes to eradicate customers copying films to DVDs and apparently selling these on.  The problem began because a number of TV's do not recognise the new encrytion, and as a consequence, the tv screen goes black, half black, fuzzy, green, blue, striped, and so on.  To further exacipate the problem, the TV manufacturers insisted their TV's were not at fault.  The truth is that maybe they were, and now by Samsung TV is having a new mother board to ensure TV and BOX match up.

My TV has been away for 10 days now, and the company making the repair on behalf of Sky have leant me a 26" Samsung.  This company insist that this loaned TV should work perfectly.  Well so far, it's been okay, except for the odd occasion where the screen goes, black, grey, green and black again before it comes back to the picture.  Strange but true.

Here's a tip going forward.  Next time you have a Sky engineer coming out to your home, get him to give you the phone number of his area manager.  Our Area manager is determined to sort the problem out and very proactive.
