CRM - there it is, the latest buzzword that you'll see plastered all over the web at the moment. I must admit that when I first saw the term CRM I had absolutely no idea what it was. The first thing that sprang to mind was cream teas and someone had forgotten the 'ea' in there. Confused? So was I...
CRM stands for Customer Relationship Manager and is generally considered to be a software solution to help a business keep track of all things customer related. What's gone out, what's gone in, who needs to be contacted , upcoming issues etc. It's basically a database of sorts and probably more usefully, can often be accessed securely over the Internet. By the way, CRM isn't all about technological solutions and you can find out more on the Customer Relationship Management Wiki.
So what does CRM mean for YOU the customer? Well probably not very much at the end of the day. It's supposed to help the business you have contact with manage THEIR relationship with you better. In short - it's all their fault that they're all over the place and can't be bothered to answer your queries and deal with your complaints. Besides, they've just forked out a small fortune to some seedy software vendor for a magic wand to solve all their problems.
CRM should mean - Customers Really Matter. Perhaps business should remember this instead of sticking their head in the sand.
