I have just came across this site and i love it. The main reason for writing this gripe is over the parlimentary expenses row. I believe the main problem lies with who is actually representing us. Are they a true representive of the common people - i.e. the working class?
How many of the M.P's are farm labourers,factory workers, cleaners, miners or any type of skilled tradesman or woman. Very few I suspect if any at all. Most of these politicians are probably professional people e.g. lawyers, doctors, land owners, farm owners and the like. Most are very rich and tolerate the plebs because they use us to generate their wealth. Their needs are different to ours.
The solution to the problem is not to abstain from voting, but to vote for a candidate who is like you, who has the same problems as you and can identify your needs. The establishment will argue that we need experianced people in government. We dont. The civil service have the experiance they can advise or you use the lawyers and accountants to advise on matters as and when required. We all have opinions on everything, some will be relevant others will be harebrained, but they should all be aired and debated by the common people.
Remember GOVERNMENT OF THE PEOPLE BY THE PEOPLE FOR THE PEOPLE.
