Do you hate Christmas too?

Things I don't like about Christmas

Things I don't like about Christmas

The giving and receiving of Christmas gifts is supposed to be a joyous thing, but I can't help feeling that it's all a bit false these days. We're going through the motions because it is expected of us.

Christmas is just around the corner and Christmas trees, lights, crackers, puddings, mince pies, nuts, those trashy gift sets, chocolates, wine and cheese boards all suddenly pop up on the shelves as if by magic.

08-9-2010 I want Christmas banned. I`ve cut down the number of presents I send to two, and my cards to just under ten, although some of this is down to natural wastage!Biscuitbum
25-3-2010 Is`nt that the truth about christmas. I used to love it when I was akid, but when I grew up, I found that it`s all about making money for the toy, drink, & sweet manufacturers. For the rest of us, it`s just about getting jostled & pushed in crowds, trying to buy presents before they are sold out, stress, & end ing up in debt in the new year. Another thing is, it sarts earlier every year.anne
18-1-2010 Christmas is rubbish. I hate it! I would be happy if they scrapped the whole thing along with everything else religious. I will never understand how one womans lie about an affair escalted the way it did.Freddie

30-12-2009 AOD :Good point actually, most of the crappy kids toys that fall apart by the 5th of January are manufactured in China (or is it Taiwan... same thing hehe). No, Taiwan is not the same as China. It's like saying Scotland and England are the same. Check your geography/current affairs.NickyB
29-12-2009 I have read your article and although I do agree with your point about the mindless waste of electricity caused by Christmas, it is a traditional time of peace and goodwill. Charity work and donations are greatly increased at Christmas because of people who obviously don't share your views: surely that is something globally good to come out of Christmas? Focus on that, rather than your Scrooge-esque views. One other thing - I don't know how you raise your children but if they're "whining" and "terrorising", you're doing something majorly wrong!FutureAuthor
27-12-2009 Cold holidaymaker, I take it that your comment 'Who ever invented christmas want's crucifying,' is an attempt an irony?miserablemoaninggit
26-12-2009 MikeP and .. not a cigar are both spot on... especially about the faery tale bit. I think religion has caused a lot of problems in the world. Perhaps done some good too, some people need something to keep them going and give them something to hope for. Who wants to believe that this is it, I mean our life on earth and then nothing? Personally I don't have a problem with that and kind of like the idea that in a few million years time my molecules will be part of something else... maybe a rock or a toad, or the @rse of some mutated cow.AOD
26-12-2009 "The Virgin Mary should have had an abortion. More deaths, more misery has been caused by religion than any other single cause" Correct, in theory, except that the Virgin Mary never existed except in a fairy tale, but that would only have solved the problems caused by Christianity and its multiple evil offshoots and followers. We would have had to have eliminated Allah and many others too.MikeP
26-12-2009 The Virgin Mary should have had an abortion. More deaths, more misery has been caused by religion than any other single cause.Happiness is not a cigar at Xmas
26-12-2009 Who ever invented christmas want's crucifying, ten days of work in the middle of winter? It would be better for everyone to have this ten day break at the beginning of August.Cold holidaymaker.
26-12-2009 christmas is good because it gets familys together- but familys should be together anyway. christmas is good because it encourages peace and harmony among your fellow man- but shouldnt that be all year round anyway? christmas is good because it encourages giving but also encourages recieving- isnt there more love in spontaneous giving? christmas used to be about jesus birth but is based on the winter sun worshipping date 25th december it is not known when he was actually born but estimates are around october when its still warm enough to have the sheep in the field- what do most people care about this nowadays anyway? Christmas good for some but not for the lonely, elderly, those with out money. Peace on earth should be all year round not just for christmassam
