Orange pay as you go Dolphin - Internet access misleading

Orange dolphin Internet access

Limited to Bebo, Myspace and Facebook

Interestingly enough, I was even told by this person that other customers had been complaining about the lack of 'free unlimited Internet access' with the Dolphin package. When did Bebo, Myspace and Facebook become th

Beware of Orange's pay as you go package called 'Dolphin'. The so called 'Free unlimited Internet acess' actually means you can visit Bebo, Myspace and Facebook for free. Visits to other websites will incur additional charges.

27-8-2010 I have just had a similar thing. I signed up to an 18 month contract with unlimited internet and unlimited texts for £35 a month on a dolphin. I had this for 18 months and then was asked if I would like to continue with the same contract with a 10% discount? I said yes and thought nothing of it. Month 1 of new contract the bill was over £2000 Month 2 of new contract after a credit to my account, bill was over £1100 after many a phone call I was asked "did you clarify exactly what was in the new contract when you signed up?" If you go into a pub and order 2 pints of beer, drink them and then go back to the bar and the barman says "same again" what do you expect? two pints of beer or a babycham and peanuts!?!?!?!?!?! Orange seem to want to promise you the world when you call but don't actually record the conversation on their internal system or CRM. Not the worst of mobile phone companies but clearly not cracking. lesser of evils?ad
24-8-2010 Dolphin was limited to the 3 sites. Now its 100mb's of any net use. Ring 453 and check your balance then surf the net, then ring for your balance again. No change.smegger
24-8-2010 I just topped up for £10 but I haven't received my animal Package :/ WASTE OF MONEY!Googoo
23-8-2010 I am sorry you guys have all been stung in one way or another with this Dolphin package. I am so grateful for the useful info as I was about to sign my youngest daughter onto this package as the rest of the family are on orange pay monthly deals (no probs touch wood) and was lured by the "free internet" but I am going to steer well clear now.Essparanza
16-8-2010 Great... I read your article just in time. I was just about to sign up for dolphin too.. yes its all a scam.. the internet means the world wide web, not just three sites of Oranges choosing..barry
15-8-2010 I to have just gone for an unlimited internet dolphin upgrade. i phoned up orange to make sure my upgrade had started as I didnt want to be charged for the internet updates my new phone automatically does now..so obviously making sure it had kicked in.when I spoke to customer services I was told I had upgraded to a 500mb broadband package and the rest of it.. i obviously replied I had an unlimited internet deal with my contract but I was told there's no such thing only 500mb's a month but dont worry no one use's this much a month???? how can that be unlimited internet???i tell ya how lol its not at all. how can orange put on there sites for new phone contracts unlimited internet when ya not gettin that????thats very misleading and surely should be put to a stop! what are trading standards doing about this?????.. by:another orange customer........(unlimited does orange know the meaning of the word!);(
13-8-2010 How can anything be classed as ' free internet ' when they restrict you to 250mb or 500mb (Orange's best deal)?? 500mb is equivalent to about a dozen songs on YouTube ...So if you watched just 2 YT vids a day, you'd have used up all your Net access within the first 6 days of the month! Wish I'd never bought an Orange Network phone now ... Their Net ' deals ' are just about the worst, compared to what's available from other providers..........Dirk
10-8-2010 I was told today by a rather nice customer service person who explained what they meant by 'free'. I've been with orange for about 10 years now, I've also just ordered two sim cards from o2 about 10 minutes ago. It's a shame but I won't wait for them to fix it, not the way the first Cust. Ser. Rep. Spoke to me, hmph.a disgusted ex-longtime customer
07-8-2010 Just bought a LG Optmus from Carphone Warehouse on Orange PAYG Dolphin. I also registered on Orange website. Anyway as soon as I went on the browser in a matter of minutes it ate my £10 Topup. I added credit nxt day and it happened again. I thought maybe the android apps ate my credit. Anyway I swapped my sim back to my PAYG on Vodaphone and its Ok now, its not eaten credit now. Orange are obviously con artists, disgrace.Daz
06-8-2010 Thing is, up until about 6 months ago, it was "free internet" although it was limited to 250mb a month. I mainly used it for finding info through google maps navigation (and downloading the actual maps). You now need to buy a "internet extra" charged at £5 for 250mb and lasts a month. For heavy usage I think they charge a max of £2 a day but im unsure of the bandwidth limit?. I guess far too many people started using the free 250mb data, so they limited usage to facebook ect and started charging for full blown net access. Shame really as Dolphin used to be one of the best PAYG packages around. £10 for -£10 call credit, 300 texts and 250mb data was a great little deal. Regards,Nomad2k3
06-8-2010 I phoned Orange customer services this morning (6 August 2010) and was told that the free internet on Dolphin was limited to the 4 social networking sites (facebook, bebo etc). I don't want to use any of these sites, I just want to be able to check my email and the football scores when I am on the move but for this I will be charged.PAYG customer
05-8-2010 I have just changed my daughter from the monky to the dolphine as I bought her a new blackberry,(after months of beeging from a teenager), it seems tho she can check her facebook out but if she wants to add a comment, check her messages or send a message she needs to have extra fund on her paygo credit, I cant understand this as I have read and been told by the so called customer severices that ti is free, ineed to make yet another phone call, here we go again, were suckers xdeb x
