The Brits in Spain, aren't you proud of them?

It's chips and pints with everything
Once they've consumed their stodge you'll see them walking around the town half naked with blubber hanging out everywhere, I mean who wants to sit having a meal with that sight in front of you?

The typical British holiday maker in Spain, don't they make you just want to cringe? Ordering chips with everything with no attempt made to try a little Spanish, wandering around half naked, white blubber just hanging out.

| 31-8-2010 | I'm Spanish, been living in Marbella all my life except for a gap year I took in the UK, and all I can say is that you find decent tourists and nasty ones from every single nationality everywhere. Ok, we may not like the typical English tourist ordering English breakfast, going to English bars and talking with a cockney accent to a shop assistant assuming she's going to understand but what the hell, I've met lovely British tourists, Germans, Scandinavians, Dutch, Americans, and I've also met nasty ones. I've also been abroad on holiday and felt ashamed of other Spaniards while on holidays. Conclusion: you can never generalise!!!!. | Andaluz |
| 04-8-2010 | I am a big girl and my husband is big with a shaved head, we do not go on holiday to try spanish food if we fancied it at that time we may try it, we work very hard to go on holiday and would like to go and relax whilst we are there and not to be made to feel uncomfortable because we do not have the perfect bodies. I will wear shorts and a bikini top because it is warm and I just like any skinny birds want to tan too, im not going to eat all your food or block out the light or break the sun loungers, I cant stand you vein people who say we should cover up im going to ibiza in a few weeks and would apreciate some respect and not to be treated like the ginger step child | Belle |
| 03-7-2010 | I completely agree. Imagine if in the UK we had loads of Italian's demanding pasta and antipasto on every street corner and only speaking in Italian! A stereotype I agree, but I am sure you get the picture. | Rosie |
| 09-6-2010 | As an earlier poster said, Spain is a big place. The areas where the baldy no-neck lager-swilling tattoed thugs and the fat chicks go serve a useful purpose. Like a bucket of sh1t, they keep the flies away from the rest of this beautiful and diverse country. Even an hour from Alicante or Malaga there are place where low class tourists are rarely seen (and for obvious reasons I am not going to name them). | MikeP |
| 09-6-2010 | that last comment sounds like you're describing Skegness, not Spain, for years that place has been full of Fat northern birds, obnoxious kids, bald headed men with staffis and uncouth language..why go to Spain when it's on your doorstep, then again it's probably a lot cheaper to go to Spain , the weather is better, and the beer is cheaper. not so dumb are we. | frogmellah |
| 17-5-2010 | I have never been to spain,Am I missing something?chips ,rude nothern fat birds, tattooed husbands, std s ,aids,,sun burn, could you tell me different or did I read this in the "daily mail" | take your holiday in the uk |
| 24-4-2010 | Chris, don't you think you might be missing out on something by not trying Spanish food? You might find you really like it.
For me, eating the local food is an important part of my holiday, and I usually find mediterranean food easier to digest in their climate. I don't think I could eat a roast dinner or steak & kidney pie when it's really hot, much as I love them in the winter. | grumpyoldwoman |
| 24-4-2010 | Oh, I don't eat chips with everything here.
My day off from chips is sunday with the sunday roast. Chips are replaced with mountains of mashed potato :)
Just kidding. | Chris. |
| 24-4-2010 | A huge ommlette and chips with onion rings is my ideal meal for a relaxing night. People have the freedom to choose what they want to eat. I never eat spanish dishes when I go to spain. So what?. I'm still enjoying my holiday.
Someone walking around with rolls of fat and such do not bother me, nor do they affect my appetite. I think overly sensitive people like that need to get out more or just stay inside.
I mean, you say it's nasty to see fat people walking around with note but trunks but, it's nasty to see fat people covering up in sports shirts..... make up your mind, it's only one of two choices ffs.
I can agree on common curtisy and manners when in restaurants.
Holidays are for relaxing. | Chris. |
| 20-4-2010 | Without the fat, white skinned, tattooed, shaven headed, lager swilling, chip eating, low IQ'd, Neanderthal-like English Dad and his equally ugly and fat Wife and kids, spending copious amounts of money, the Spanish economy would fall into the abyss. Get real, the Spanish encourage this type of holiday maker. Do what I do and holiday somewhere in Spain that does not cater to the needs of the Engerlish, Spain is a big place. | Rider of the Apocalypse |
| 09-12-2009 | I am English and in some ways I agree. But I am determined to not think this of me, or any of my family who live here. I am 13 years old, and go to an international school in the costa del sol. Personally, I think their are many brits - and americans - not to mention finnish that are too controlling (or owning) of spanish culture and sights. But the fact is Brits love it here. I love it here! The sun, lovely spanish and other people, great healthy lifestyle and so on. I apologise freely. We do not mean in any way to offend. Their are many people from the UK in spain who really try to improve it - animal charities for example. Don't write us all off like that. Today I have been trying to make my knowledge more rounded and reading opinions. Excuse me, pardon my language above. Understand that many English people are polite (and as many Americans apparently think of us - reserved). Sometimes it would feel comforting to hear a good comment. For example, my opinion of American people is changing by the minute. My family and I try exceedingly to expand our overall Spanish knowledge and talk it. My Granny talked and joked with an assistant in la canada yesterday. Thank you for listening (pardon me, reading) this ridiculously long comment. Just remember I love you Spanish people. Except for the crooks!!
PS: Don't believe anything about the police over here are a pushover. Its certainly not true. We're actually scared of them!!!! | Elizabeth |
| 02-6-2009 | British people walk around without shirts (and blubber on show, etc) over here too. People who don't like it are surrounded by it all summer.
And we've gotta put up with drunk roudy football supporters/stag party-goers all year round too. | Rorschach |
