Baggage allowance on ryanair flights

No frills and a hefty excess baggage charge
Cheap flights, but they’ve sure found another way of screwing the passengers out of money. Why can’t they be a bit more lenient with the weight allowance? Maybe they really should start weighing the passengers.

My gripe is the ridiculous Ryanair excess baggage policy. Lots of people use low-cost airlines these days because it’s a cheap way to fly, however, be warned, sometimes travelling with a no-frills airline can cost you.

| 23-7-2008 | I totally agree with you. My mother and I travelled with First Choice one year and were over by 5 kilos each on an outbound flight to Majorca. We had to pay £50 for it. I get very upset by all this as we are both small frame people I weigh 55 kilos and Mum about 65 kilos. I think they should we...more | Jan |
| 09-7-2008 | There is legislation going through the European parliament to force airlines to publish their fares to include all non-optional charges.
Don't assume that it is only RyanAir who con people in this way. BA publish fares which exclude fuel surcharges, those of course not only being manadatory,...more | MikeP |
| 09-7-2008 | Ryanair also have a massive problem with British soldiers. There was a time when I used to book flts for soldiers travelling to and from the Province. The stories of the troubles they encountered were unbelievable. Use this company as a last resort, as you would your last bullet.

| 08-7-2008 | Ryanair baggage charges. I wanted to book flights with Ryanair, but hey are now charging a WHOPPING £24 for one bag and to check in, and when I tried to e-mail to complain, no e-mail address only a 0870 number, another rip-off scam! | Ringo |
| 08-6-2008 | I have recently came back from a holiday in Portugal which was booked with Thompsons. The holiday was fantastic but the return flight was delayed by an hour. We departed our hotel before breakfast was served and found the prices in Faro airport ridiculous so decided to wait till we got on board to...more | Anon |

| 07-2-2008 | Ryanair treat their customers like filth and this is generally known and well documented.

| 04-1-2008 | I quite agree with McFly! There are too many moaners today who expect to pay nothing to fly abroad and also receive 5 star service in the process! As he rightly says...it was only a few years ago that cheap no frills flights were almost unheard of and you'd have to pay a couple of hundred quid f...more | Mark |
| 04-1-2008 | Even with baggage fees you couldn't have gone to Valencia for the price you paid with Ryanair compared to only 10 years ago. If you had the foresight to check in three bags for your return it would have only cost you a fiver so you can't compain to Ryanair for your complacency and bad planni...more | McFly |
| 31-12-2007 | I don't think just because you are travelling with a discount airline they should treat you badly. Baggage handling is an important part of travelling. The contractual conditions for such handling should be made plain in the ticket when one buys it. Included in the contract should be a plain st...more | Frequent Flyer |
| 31-12-2007 | I fly to North America a few times a year and do it mostly on low-cost airlines (unless there is a deal). I pack as little as possible and can usually make due with just a carry on and buy what I need in terms of extra toiletries (and I'm female).
