Cyclests get a bad rap
Why should the law make me stop for red lights? Obviously if the junction is occupied because it is the turn of other traffic or pedestrians then fair enough, but otherwise it's stupid.

I cycle around town and country for recreation and commuting. It is faster, more reliable and/or less faff than the alternatives, but I am tired of getting a bad rap from both car drivers and pedestrians.

| 21-3-2008 | Cyclists should "follow the Regulations" and not think of themselves as some glorified pedestrian on two wheels.
But they do not have to be Registered and they do not have to Pay Vehicle Excise Duty. Because these are THE Regulations - they don't have to do these things!

| 15-3-2008 | Why should these Lycra clad posing morons obey traffic signals? Because they'd be the first to complain if others didn't and they got knocked off their precious bikes.
Cyclists should not be allowed to use the same roads as other vehicles until they adhere to the same norms, that means ...more | MikeP |
| 19-1-2008 | Cyclists are not all the same, some are polite as there are some who are not.
Lycra who has not sat behind looking and .........leave that to you!!!!!!

| 19-1-2008 | winge winge winge. Just follow the law and the highwaycode like some (i know it should be all but I don't vouch for everyone) of us motorists and you'll be fine. Spend less time thinking about the injustices of the world and more time on your actions and it'd be safer all round | bunnyboiler |
| 11-1-2008 | Cycling should be banned until cycle paths are more adequate. The idea of letting someone on a small metal frame with wheels travel at 15mph on the same road as 40 foot lorries with a top speed of 55mph is insanity. | Frank Whittle |
| 05-1-2008 | We're not asking cyclists to bend over backwards, we're just asking them to cycle backwards.
But seriously folks, cyclists should be a lot more mindful of Not using the pavements. Where vehicle traffic is snarled up and congested and the pavements have many pedestrians, this is where cyc...more | Sid |
| 31-12-2007 | I agree to a certain point about cyclists getting it in the neck from pedestrians and motorists. There are few dedicated places for cyclists to ride making life awkward. Let's face it, some motorists' interpretation of the highway code leaves a lot to be desired.
Having said that, how com...more | T |
| 26-12-2007 | Overfifty: well said! It's all well and good being a maverick, but the author of this gripe wants it every which way HIS way ... of course, because he isn't actually a maverick, he is a selfish little moron who thinks he has a God given right to swoosh up behind pedestrians, scaring them o...more | Nikki |
| 26-12-2007 | Why should you have to obey red traffic lights? Because you're a vehicle on the road, my son, same as all others.....you have no right to cross a junction on a red light any more than I have in a car. I suspect you are probably also one of those idiots who cycles at night with no front or rear l...more | overfiftys |

| 26-11-2007 | Well I must say it is out of order to shout abuse at anyone.
In the absence of a horn I would certainly yell "Look out" or "Hey" if someone was trying to cross moving traffic without looking though. Even if only one of the lanes is moving. And the traffic in it is bicycles...more | GrW |
| 26-11-2007 | mate, i've lost the count of times i've been abused by cyclists when walking to work in London. You cannot expect a pedestrian to see you when it is impossible!
