How can I block junk email - yahoo hotmail etc?

Yahoo mail spam is so annoying

Junk Email

Spam email is a problem that just seems to grow and grow. None of the email filters and spam blockers seem to be able to touch the amount of junk that floods into the inbox on a daily basis. Vent your frustration on this forum!

Just when you thought it was safe to open your inbox, along comes another huge helping of spam mail from hotmail and yahoo along with so many other culprits it's impossible to list them all.

25-6-2010 hi I am jake sending out these mails. I point out that if their policy does not hold the spammer traceable and responsible then they are responsible. I wish someone would take them to court and make them responsible and get them to tighten up their policies. They would then do something about it quickly!,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
10-6-2010 I think it is not only annoying but illegal. I have written, often, to yahoo to tell them to stop sending out these mails. I point out that if their policy does not hold the spammer traceable and responsible then they are responsible. I wish someone would take them to court and make them responsible and get them to tighten up their policies. They would then do something about it quickly! I would happily do it if I knew how.john348
10-4-2010 I stop using Yahoo mail service after being using it for about 3 years..its absolutely rubbish!! Msn is better, but rather than receiving junks, it constantly send advert to ALL of my friends which not only annoys me but my friends.!! Now I start to use more Google gmail, which filters anything which I think its the best mail box provider!katty
18-10-2009 I have decided to boycott all yahoo services due to SPAM with yahoo links, I have reported this SPAM to yahoo, but my complaints are not taken seriously. GOOGLE IS BEST.Nic
12-11-2008You hit the nail on the head about Yahoo's spam filter - it often spamtags valid email - EVEN FROM ME TO MYSELF! I not only have an email account at Yahoo; I PAY for a domain name hosted by them for a business account. I sometimes send myself an email as a reminder to do something . It suddenly started sending those to the 'bulk folder' as though it was spam! For crying out loud! The FROM email address is one of my official business email addresses and it ~thinks~ it is spam? To add insult to injury, even though they have a very good email message search feature, some IDIOT at Yahoo made the outright moronic decision to NOT include the bulk filter on an email message search! Example.. I get call from a new customer and I give them my email address. A couple days go by and.. no email from them in my inbox so I call them back and they say that they sent it. I do a message search and nothing is found. But if I go to the bulk folder, dredge through HUNDREDS of spam messages that came in only two days time - there it is! (My domain name is 14 years old so I'm on the list of every spammer in the universe) HEY STUPID PERSON AT YAHOO... Of all the possible reasons WHY I need to search my messages, looking for a missing one that wrongly went to the bulk folder is MY MOST COMMON REASON BUT YOU DUMB TWITS LOCKED IT OUT! Concerning spam that does come through, many have no 'from' field. ZERO of the valid emails I receive have no 'from' field - ZERO! Such emails shouldn't even be accepted - why not just black hole the IP they came from?Mike
13-7-2008How do I get spam mail in my Yahoo spam folder that doesn't even have my correct email address????Hale
13-7-2008I made a new Yahoo and a MSN account on the same day. Since I already had both a Yahoo and MSN accounts, I didn't use these new accounts right away. When I got back to them a week later, Yahoo had about 80 pieces of spam in the Spam folder. MSN had none. Some of the spam in the Yahoo folder had even used my first name that I recorded on the Yahoo sign up, to address me in their spam mail. A month later I still haven't used the Yahoo account, but I still get about 10 -15 new pieces of spam mail in the spam folder every day. Yahoo sure doesn't provide the protection that MSN does.Hale
01-12-2007I left aol last year , my e-mail address was being used to spam people. Aol would not offer any explanation or help so I dumped them prontonikolatin
09-11-2007Im with bt/yahoo and ill be glad when the years contract is up and glad to see yahoo stick thier bulk mail where the sun dont shine, I can never understand how I get junk mail addressed to email addresses which are not even my correct email address.alan
15-2-2007I also used to be a victim of lot's Spam but get hardly any these days. With my latest email address, I have configured a filter that deletes all emails sent from addresses that don't match those in my address book and those from companies that aren't on my "safe" list.. So if an email comes from someone who I don't know, they get a reply saying "Message ignored" embedded in a 2MB bmp to clog their inbox. It then gets deleted, removed from trash and email address then blocked. I don't see the problem of sending some unwanted carp in return to give them a bit of payback. If a message is that important, those concerned can phone me. PS. Don't sign up with Tiscali !!!ShutDownTiscali
12-12-2006Captain D, I never give out my email address to people I don't know and the sites that I am getting spam from I have never visited. I would refer you to the report on several news sites re. the 92,000,000 AOL usernames sold to spammers by an ex employee and the 600,000 items of search data inadvertantly given to researchers which are now in the public domain by one of AOL's senior technical managers who then had to resign. Possibly one of the reasons people get spammed.Bob
08-12-2006I think the majority of spam gets around because many are too freely giving out their email address. So many places try to get you to register for this, register for that ... is it any wonder why you're getting spammed? I also realize there are numerous back door ways to spread spam, but to at least cut down or or eliminate as much of it as you can, don't give out your email address unless there's a absolute need for doing so...Captain D
