eBay Seller fees are way too steep

eBay fees are too high

Paying too many complex fees

With the number of people using eBay these days (let's face it, there isn't really a worthwhile alternative at the moment) they must be absolutely coining it in!

Is it just me, or are eBay getting just a little bit greedy when it comes to the fees levied at sellers these days? Also, I think that the seller fee system is over complicated and a bit devious, not to mention those PayPal fees!

04-6-2008I sell on Ebay. I buy a bag of kit for 10 Pounds and make 200% profit. I offer my goods worldwide and send to Israel and Japan. I've noticed that many sellers sell a similar item but don't ship worldwide. I have no probs with WW shipping and I pack carefully. Followed with a short email...moreMikey
04-6-2008I sold a video game worth £36.99 in total using BUY IT NOW, and I remember the insertion fee clear as a daylight and it was about £1.20 or LESS, and now I got an e-mail about my invoice saying I have to pay £3.65? what the heck, do they charge you when you buy aswell?Botchok
04-6-2008Yeah I agree, I buy and sell on ebay and I love it, but I sell most of the time, the insertion fee is already high and after you sold that item they will deduct a % of the total of the item and not only that paypal also charges a %, so you end up not making any money really its a piss take!Botchok
03-6-2008It's against Ebay rules, but you could "Buy it Now" at a really high price, that you are unlikely to achieve. In the hope that you receive e-mails from people willing to buy outside Ebay?Stingy
03-6-2008As a buyer I find PayPal a very convenient way to pay. It's quicker than posting a cheque and you invariably receive the goods quicker as the seller has the payment immediatly. As a seller, I find the combination of listing fees, final selling fees and PayPal fees just too much which, in my ...moreanotherunhappyebayseller

17-3-2008Ladylaura, you should take up your query with ebay, they are pretty prompt at replying. For all those that 'dish' Ebay, don't use it. Mongo is right, go elsewhere like an auction house and haul your gear with you. See if your selling fees are any less than Ebay and how long will you...moreSimon
16-3-2008Go to an auction house and sell your stuff then! Ebay fees are about right for the service they provide, around 10%.Mongo
01-3-2008I totally agree, I feel I have been ripped off by ebay a couple of times. for example one month I listed 3 items, I then got an invoice to pay £11 invoice fees. now I'm pretty sure that was not the cost. my listings were plain and simple, 1 gallery pic each at 15p plus insertion, it just do...moreladylaura
11-1-2008Hi no more fees, I omitted to mention the overseas policy regarding WW2 German items. There are some items that do not contravene Ebay UK policy however, if the item is listed as worldwide shipping then the item will be visible to countries such as Austria, France and Germany where these items a...moreSimon
