Broadband Complaints

Broadband is great if you can get it. Ever had trouble getting a reliable service from your internet provider (ISP), or are you having connection problems. Are BT not really much help? Join the discussion and share your experiences

I've used the internet now for a number of years both at home and at work and have been waiting for the day when I can have an 'always on' high speed link at home at a relatively low cost.

07-2-2010 BT seem to have some very underhanded methods for dealing with problems. I recently had a problem with them whereby they sent my bill to the wrong address and then sent a warning letter to that same address. My phone bill andmy broadband bills usually arrive within a week of each other so when my b...moreFeenix
06-2-2010 Flipper, the exchanges may be run by BT but most isp have their own equipment within the exchange, so if it is the equipment that is faulty a different isp will have different service, however if the line is faulty between the exchange and your house then you are relying on the isp getting Openreac...moreNick

03-2-2010 I have spent the last 14 days on the telephone to BT trying to get my new BT Broadband installed and working. I have made an endless number of telephone calls to anonymous cutomer service staff with a multitude of excuses. I have plugged in unplugged, replaced filters and finally got it working to...moreItsgreattobeBritish

22-1-2010 My broadband went down on 7th December, after endless calls to India which had me at times doing the technical stuff myself - undoing sockets and so on, they finally sent an engineer who said I needed a new hub, but no he couldnt give one, Some of the calls lasted over an hour.......Nobody got in b...morejoanc53
22-1-2010 As Larry, my service is terrible - I've just arranged to move to another provider but because I am still 'in contract' with 2 months left - I am having to pay just shy of £50 (+£28 phone line cancelation) to move as I am breaking the contract!! The fact that BT had broken the...moreEx BT user
21-1-2010 BT? I wonder what the B stands for? in theory its 'British' but when I made my umpteenth phonecall to the call centre and asked, politely, if on this occasion I could to speak to someone with English as their first language I was called a racist! my speeds are rarely higher than 6 (yes SIX) ...morefedupsoontobeanexBTvictim
17-1-2010 I've had BT since October, but since 10/01/10 the red broadband light comes on roughly every two - three minutes and I lose connection. the hub has been switched off and on, reset, computers switched off and on, tried new adsl filter and connect only adsl, but nothing solves the problem. Bt h...moreLarry
13-1-2010 Have had BT Broadband for a number of years and as long as nothing goes wrong there isn't a problem. For the last two months my internet speed has been fluctuating wildly between 25kbps and 4500kbps which is what I get normally. Contacting the 'customer services' centre in India has pr...moreWayne
12-1-2010 We all persuaded my elderly, disabled mother to get online, mainly so we could all talk together on skpye. Got BT to provide and since then it's hell. Internet constantly goes off. My mother rang and did all the things the checks they suggested but when there was one check she simply didn't...morepatty
