Large vehicles intimidating but safe

We buy large vehicles for a reason
Speaking as someone that drives a full-size pickup 4x4 that is larger than most small flat's, there are more reasons most of us own these machines aside from your inferiority complex.

Safety is the main reason for buying a large vehicle, especially after seeing the kind of damage done when a small car is involved with an accident with a lorry. You've got more chance of coming out alive in a 4x4.

| 15-4-2008 | Yeh, I suppose..
Tax hikes might help a bit (but not all school-run 'sheds') round here seem to have convincing/current tax discs (cheap-jack modified Fronteras(?) eps.

| 14-4-2008 | QUOTE Nellison 27:
"as far as safety I think it's true that 4x4's are safer because people that have a 4x4 tend to be nicer and calmer on the road. We know the 4x4 is big and that it requires more space on the road so we plan in advance for lane changes etc. I don't cut in at la...more | DanM |

| 31-3-2008 | In the small town where I live we set up a group to protest at the unnecessary use of 4x4s driving through the town, especially by selfish mothers carrying their spoilt and selfish children to school.
We managed to get over 100 activists involved and every day for two weeks we stood at the side o...more | George |
| 31-3-2008 | It's comical that only those that really do need a 4x4 (i.e. those that live in remote areas, those that require access to fields, farms, own livestock etc) have replied justifying their usage of a 4x4. I honesty DO justify you owning/using one of these vehicles.
It's the owner that uses ...more | DanM |
| 27-2-2008 | I live in the cities and yes I own a nice 4x4, its the most reliable vehicle I've ever had, especially in the winter with snow and ice. People call these things gas guzzlers and I would have to disagree. Most minivans get between 20-30 the average car gets between 25-30. My truck gets 23-24 in t...more | Nellison |
| 25-2-2008 | The typical urban 4x4 driver's credo is : I drive a large 4 x 4 because I have a lot of money and I want everyone to know it, I also have a small dick/boobs and an inferiority complex and being high up and looking down on the hoi polloi gives me a kick. I could'nt give a toss about other pe...more | MikeP |
| 24-2-2008 | Inconsiderate people always tend to buy big because they dont give a dam about anyone else, the real solution to the 4x4 problem is to lobby car manufacturers to make ordinary sized vehicles have 4x4 capability, smaller car less weight less power needed less emissions but still 4x4. people with big ...more | Paul |
| 21-2-2008 | Safety?? There are only 2 small SUV and 3 large SUV's in the UK market that have a 5 star Euro NCAP safety rating. That compares to the 55 other vehicles that have a 5 star rating.

| 01-2-2008 | 4x4s are the only thing that can stand the hammering of being regularly driven over sleeping policemen and other similar traffic calming measures in Oxford and other towns. There is no replacement for their excellent rugged build quality and toughness. I really really cannot stand the expression C...more | Oliver |
