Royal Mail recorded delivery not guaranteed

Recorded delivery goods damaged

Recorded Delivery

It appears that their service is fine until you encounter a problem! They are supposed to card your door and return the item to the sorting office, for either collection or re-delivery!

I don’t think much of Royal Mail’s recorded delivery service. I came home about 4pm to find a package left outside my front door, on top of some rubbish waiting to be dumped at the local tip. The item was damaged of course.

02-5-2008I had a similar experience with Parcel Force Special delivery, a tracked service. The seller told me on the phone that he had a record of my parcel arriving at a time when I was out of the house. I returned home to find a £300 amplifier sitting in my porch, in full view with a forged signature ...moreAidan
19-4-2008You would think with all the bad press RM get they would make an effort to improve and impress! Personally I have had to complain about our Lazy postie on two occasions so far as he keeps dumping the mail for the entire block of 14 flats down in the main foyer, there's only three floors and we&#...moreBazooka Moe
12-3-2008it is the sellers responsibility, she should have known that special delivery is a must when the item is more than £32. she needs to pay you backlaughing gravy
15-2-2008My last post on this site 28th January 2008 criticised the post office for recorded delivery goods going astray. That same day I filled in a claim form, original receipt for the item plus other correspondence and sent it first class post by Recorded delivery to Customer services. Plymouth PL9 7YB. Y...moreAno
28-1-2008The sooner they privatise the royal mail the better. 2 months ago I sent a letter by recorded delivery... It took ten days to arrive. 2 weeks ago I sent a parcel by recorded delivery and it has still not arrived. I am a private individual not a firm so exactly what is going on at the Royal Mail and ...moreAnon
17-1-2008I have had 2 consecutive recorded delivery letters go astray, having sent them via recorded delivery on the advice of Consumer Direct no less (it was a compensation claim). The letters were sent to different addresses for the same company. Having reported the first one "lost" on 23rd N...moregremlins3
16-1-2008I'm currently suing RM for damaging my car when 'delivering' a parcel. After going out for 3 hours in August 2007 I returned home to find a card on the floor saying there was a package by the garage. I went out to find a box dropped between my car & the house wall & garage door ...moreRoyal Male
08-1-2008A decent organisation would have responded to my Official Complaint by now. I understand the expected standard is to respond within 14 days. Guess what; they haven't. I can't be botehred to follow it up any more. If the Royal Mail want ot save money as they FACE PRIVATISATION, they ought to ...morewodin7
04-1-2008My postman is just lazy I have received mail where he has just put it through the letter box and not bothered to get the signature this is for a `signed for` delivery. What do we pay the recorded delivery charge for if they just put the post thought the door like normal mail?Cimmeria
02-1-2008I'm glad to find that other people have been having problems with Royal Mail. They advertise their services as guaranteed. What exactly does that mean. As we all know it's really quite expensive to send anything via Royal Mail especially when using their Next Day 1pm service. I recently ...moreSnoop
09-12-2007My official complaint went in yesterday. At the same time I collected the three small parcels they were holding for me. Had the elastic bands been taken off, thereby separating them, each would have fitted through the letter box. Are they all lazy w******s or is it just where I live? Oh I forgot, as...moreWodin7
08-12-2007The Royal Mail couldn’t care what the customer thinks. It is quite laughable that in the Royal mail offices there is a notice that states - they will not stand for staff being abused. But it doesn’t matter if the Royal Mail abuses the customer, which they do on a regular basis. You can c...morePC Not
