UK Mobile catering and snack vans - how much?

Burger vans are a rip off

Snack vans over priced

Ever had to use a burger van, fast food place at a fair or a village fete and had the feeling you have been severely ripped off? It is nothing but daylight robbery and there ought to be a law against it.

Mobile catering, snack food places and burger vans are a right rip off. How can they justify charging three quid for an unappealing cheeseburger and who do they think they are kidding?

22-4-2008You are a cheap skate. Three pounds for a burger and two pounds for chips is quite cheap. If you don't like it, dont buy it. Simple.dave
13-4-2008The French have as much backbone as a jellyfish. They go on strike, the government gives, in, and the result is that everyone is worse off. Anyone who thinks otherwise is ignorant of the reality. What Britain needs is another Margaret Thatcher who will strip the trade unions of their power, rei...moreMikeP
13-4-2008To all you winging people out their moaning about some one trying to make a honest living for a change, the fact that these burger vans charge what they do is simple the cost of a burger van is not cheap to insure it is not cheap to get all the certs to run one is not cheap to keep it nice and clean...morelets make britain great again
10-4-2008hi I have run a mobile burger van for 4 years now and agree yes generally prices are very high at events but this is due to organisers sometimes charging sky high prices for pitches, insurances, health and safety certificates and public liability, so maybe its not the traders you should be knocking ...morejo

10-3-2008I agree with the fact the prices are sky high at the mobile catering at events but they are often charged a similarly high amount to be there. I have just been to crufts where I found it impossible to get any drink for less than £1.50 and the cheapest sandwich I found was £3.50. But as th...moreMC
10-3-2008Ryder is correct but sometimes you've already bought it and it is too late. Depending on the 'will' of the individual, you could throw it back at them and ask for your coin back. There are some good venders and I believe they vastly outweigh the bad. There's one I know that does...morePete
10-3-2008It's very simple, rather than buying and then complaining afterwards, just don't buy at all. There are plenty of decent mobile catering venders out there, selling quality food. Anyone who's stupid enough to want to stuff their faces full of disgusting offal burgers and nutritionless frie...moreRyder

13-2-2008I too agreed the prices charged at local events were a rip off - until I looked at what they are being charged by the organiser for the pitch for the day - often £200 (at prestige events this can rise to £2000)... I also licence vans to use private property, I charge 10% of profit income. ...moreAnother unhappy customer...
09-1-2008We are currently looking for a site in Gosport, Portsmouth and Fareham areas to operate our snack bar. We hold all the relevant Insurances and Health and Hygiene Certificates and have excellent references which can be supplied from Fareham Borough Council. We only operate at the moment at weekends...moreBill
