The Weekly Gripe

Over worked, tired, stressed, no money?

Over worked and under paid

Working for peanuts

I guess that is what it is really all about. In some cases we are quite literally until we drop and what is it all for at the end of the day? Long hours, poor pay and no social life will indeed make Jack or Jaqueline a dull person!

Do you feel over worked and under paid? If you put in around forty hours a week and spend another ten commuting, you could quite literally be killing yourself to live.

12-5-2008I would like to say thankyou to the author who has highlighted our plight. I feel like I have been a Labour Government guinea pig and that they have hampered my life at every turn. When I was doing my GCSE's I was told by the government that I must study English Literature and that for my year...moreGet in the real world
12-5-2008Unfortunately I was alone in my enthusiasm as Tony decided he would lure morons into the profession with the promise of £5000. Once I had completed the course I left University only to find that when I applied for a job I was one of around 350 candidates and that it was impossible for schools t...moreGet in the real world

12-5-2008However as the prices had risen so sharply in the time that I left University, there was not a Bank in England who would give me a mortgage (including the one I worked for). So here I am - a 11 GCSE, 3 A Level University Graduate, Trained Teacher who is unable to afford to buy their own home - Wel...moreGet in the real world
07-5-2008Paul : My comment was certainly was not directed at you. You are the opposite of the type of personal I'm criticising. You have made an effort to improve your life through hard work and study, and you deserve, and I wish you, every success.MikeP
07-5-2008I took what you said as a personal attack against me [calling me lazy and uneducated local] sorry I was off. I agree their are these types who don't won't to work, but there are also people through no fault of their own who find themselves unemployed and go on benefits for a short so to affo...morePaul
06-5-2008Paul. I'm sorry you appear to have taken offence at my comments and wonder if you could explain why and what triggered your anger. No. I'm not an employer, let alone one taking advantage of 'cheap foreign labour'. I don't have a 'job', I make my own opportunities eac...moreMikeP
06-5-2008MikeP your "Prophecy" wont happen and as for your other comments they are offensive and ignorant. Are you one of the many greedy employers taking advantage of cheap foreign labour or something?. You're despicable.Paul. Shrewsbury' England
16-3-2008The East Europeans, notably the Poles, came to Western Europe and work better, harder and cheaper than many of the locals who are lazy and uneducated. Good luck to them. I prophecy that it is only a matter of time before the Brits and the French are flocking to Poland to clean toilets and work i...moreMikeP
16-3-2008It's not very motivating is it?. I've actually worked full time in unskilled warehouse and factory stuff since leaving school and earned peanuts all the way along. I got made redundant and found myself with little choice being as the HUGE recent influx of mainly eastern Europeans had took ...morePaul. Shrewsbury' England
