Radio stations that do not play rock music

The radio DJ never plays my request

Somebody shoot that DJ!

Are you fed up with DJ’s on the radio who don’t play rock and heavy metal? Did you ever submit a request to have your favourite song played, only to wait all night and not actually hear it?

It’s the same old story on the radio and at the local nightspot. "Text us your requests" or "please keep the requests coming in and we’ll play your favourite song for you".  They never do, especially if you request rock or heavy metal.

19-2-2008Tom is right, the DJ does not have a say what he plays on air. It's a tight schedule to run by and if by any chance there may be a few mins to spare, he may get to play a request. A friend of mine used to help out BFBS in Kosovo, he had his own radio slot. Could he play any requests? Not a...morePeter
06-2-2008Local radio is the worst for this, I think they probably don't have as many cd's to play as some people (me included) have in their record & cd collection! Our station say they play more music variety. More than what? I think there is a gap in the market for a radio station that plays ...moreSueps
13-1-2008Hey all tune your radio to a good talk show station and put a CD in your machine when you want to rock or what ever you want to hear. Besides if you haven’t noticed...when ever you listen to request hour it's always full of requests they all ready play during non request time...have fun an...moreCrashn
10-4-2007Okay Tom, fair cop; I was a bit annoyed and let my temper get away with me for a bit so sorry for that. "If you're a DJ on a pop station" : That's my point really, because they are practically ALL pop stations here in the UK and because radio DJ's can't or wont play anyt...moreRR
10-4-2007RealRocker - 'let not your opinions cloud your judgement'. Your reply to Ortega was sensible, and I agreed. But then what went wrong? You were doing so well. How exactly do I not know what I'm talking about? My comments were in respect of people who get all upset when they request a song...moretom
05-4-2007Ortega - because not everyone wants to listen to mainstream garbage! Just because it's new or alegedly "hot" - it doesn't make it actually good. We all know you only play what you are told to do, after all it's just a job isn't it? You don't have to love music to be ...moreRealRocker
19-3-2007What a load of ignorant, self-righteous rubbish. Find out why radio presenters HAVE TO play a certain type of song before you slag them off. Every station has a licence - that's what determines the sort of music you can play. And DJs don't pick the songs, management do, for the above reason....moretom
05-3-2007I am aware I put heavy metak instead of heavy metal. apologiesRory is fat
05-3-2007I totally agree with you. The nearest they get to "rock" or less mainstream music is My Chemical Romance, but they're now about as mainstream as it is possible to be. I like heavy metak, but you just don't hear it at all. I know that there are more pop fans out there, so I'm pa...moreRory is fat
13-9-2006Not everybody wants to listen to the latest music, most of it is just recycled garbage anyway. DJ's often play what they feel like and that is fair enough, but they should respect their audience and play some older music now and again if listeners request that kind of thingMusic Box
23-8-2006Why would you request a song that ain't new or "hot" most DJ's put the songs that are new, for promotion, I am a DJ for a radio station, I to have gotten requests but sometimes we dont get the text requestOrtega
