Oh no, it’s school run mum (or dad) with their 4x4, taking the kids to school; what an absolute nightmare they are!  I see them every day on the way to work in their 'off road' vehicles, dropping their little darlings off at the school gates in their "4x4 school bus".

I have no issues with the fact that they drive their kids to school, and in the world we live in today with so many downright nasty people around it's probably a good idea.  I know that I would probably do the same if I ever had kids.  I'm not even having a go at them for the type of vehicle they drive either, although it must be said, a four-wheel drive monster is a bit much for the school run.  It can be such a good laugh watching them playing dodgems with the other parents outside the school gates.  Surely the small economical family car, or even a people carrier would be much more sensible?

Actually, my problem with these people really has more to do with their general attitude, and the lack of consideration they show others when driving to and from school.  They roll up every morning, park right in front of someone’s driveway and then proceed to unload all their kids.

School run - woe betide anyone who gets in their way

By this time all the doors to the vehicle are open preventing other traffic from moving freely up and down the road.  They then just stand their and have a good old gossip with one of the other mums, meanwhile little Johnny and his siblings play right in the middle of the road with their school chums.  It is chaos I tell you!

Personally I would hate to live right next to the school as some people do, and to have to witness this zoo every morning.  To make matters worse, once they’ve dropped off the children, that's when they suddenly decide they’re running late themselves, and woe betide anyone who gets in their way!  This is when I most often encounter the school run mum.  Driving down a road with parked cars on either side, it’s a game of chicken.  A game I always loose, because they’re so up their own backside they don’t think about anyone else.  Charging straight at you, regardless of the fact that the parked cars are on their side and theoretically it’s you that has right of way; you are the one who always has to pull up onto the kerb to let them pass.

They are just so selfish and rude!  I often feel like taking a different route to work just so that I don’t have to deal with them.  Please, let’s bring in the big yellow school buses so we can get the school run mum off the road?

Many offspring of Mrs "I love myself and my the big 4x4 which hubby bought me" are more than capable of making their own way to and from school. But Mummy can't show the motor off and portray herself the way she would like to, for superficial reasons more than anything else, if the kids are travelling unassisted. It's all rather sad really.

I run a cafe and people park outside all day, 4x4 drivers are appalling, absolutely no idea how to park, if they can't drive onto the pavement and drop the front wheels off to fit into a space they haven't a clue. People who drive Chelsea tractors should have to take a test in one before being allowed on the road, and they should also have to explain why they need such an enormous vehicle if only to drive on normal roads. almost forgot, also be subject to £1000 a year road tax. Some idiot on a Radio show recently said why should he and his wife, who both drive large 4x4s be subject to higher tax as they only drive them a few miles to work and back everyday, pity the interviewer didn't ask then why do you need such a vehicle?.

"keep your kids safe buy an x3,land cruiser, land rover etc,do not worry about small peoples minds if you can afford it buy it"

Don't worry about being able to drive either.

Yummy Mummy, it is all very well keeping your kids safe, but if more people actually got off their backsides and made the effort to walk their kids to school people would be fitter, they could have less of an impact on the environment, the road outside the school would be quieter and then everyones kids could be a bit safer :-)

Being someone who lives in the country 4x4's are essential just to get out of your driveway when it snows. In a town or city there is no excuse. These women just get them as status symbols so everyone knows they are a stay at home mum and hubby has a good job!

in this situation- which I find myself in often- I force my way through o matter what! teach them roadmanners. if they want to hog the road a risk crashing into yourself then they pay the price through insurance

I am in Australia and the scenario presented could easily be repeated at schools here. I drive a Kia carnival (2 wheel front wheel drive) and even as a retired policeman I am still amazed at the arrogance shown by parents (of both sexes) in their military spin-off vehicles.Unfortunately "children see and children do."

The womans an idiot. Any abuse she has got is her own fault, she chose to attack people rather then take their opinions into account.
