Nothing worse than smelly garlic breath

Why do people eat garlic?  There's nothing worse than sitting next to a garlic eater, particularly if you can't stand the smell of the stuff.  It's one of those things that people eat and they just reek of it for days afterwards and they don't seem to even realise.  Can someone please tell me why people eat garlic though because I don't understand.  Is it because they...

  1. like smelling like a sewer?
  2. don't like people sitting next to them on public transport?
  3. use their breath to ward off evil spirits?
  4. use their breath as an early warning device when shopping?
  5. think it makes them smell nice?
  6. believe it is good for them?
  7. are antisocial?
  8. have bad breath or B.O.and garlic masks the smell.
  9. believe this is the new deodorant "the smell of garlic breath"
  10. think it will ward off vampires?

A bulb of garlic If someone said to you, "put this in your food and I guarantee that you will smell like a sewer for several days" would you do that?  Nobody in their right mind would do such a thing but for some unknown reason garlic eaters do!  Maybe they have read somewhere that garlic is "good for you" ie: some scientist somewhere fed rats on it for years and extended their lifespan by a few seconds.

O.K so it may improve the taste of certain foods, but then so does salt but that doesn't make you stink for days.  Do garlic eaters ever have a bath or shower, use deodorant or soap, etc?  I would assume that like most people they have a shower so that they don't smell, so why do they then go and eat garlic and stink?  Self imposed B.O. is what I call it!

All non garlic eaters should cease to wash, bathe, change their socks etc then we could inflict our smell on them and see how they like it.  It only takes one garlic eater to get on the bus for the whole vehicle to stink.  There is nothing worse than a garlic eater who sits behind me on the bus and spends the journey breathing down my neck, ughhhh!  I think anyone smelling of garlic should be refused any form of public transport.  I don't want you on my bus.  Don't eat garlic!!!

What a pleasure to read this! Garlic eaters stinks. For me, is the most offensive bad breath in the world. It´s just a torture for me being sitting near one of them at the bus. Im from Buenos Aires and 90% people eats garlic!! Sometimes, all my oficce stinks (specially on modays). And they joke about me, beacause, i don't eat garlic, it´s understood. They said: "it´s good for healt" it could be good for healt but is an attempt to social relationship!
It´s amazing, beacause who eat that, doesn´t smeell it they themselves.
And it was so fun when someone who works at my oficce said "garlic it´s a natural aphrodisiac" God!, it could be an aphrodisiac but you will have to touc yourselve for one week if you want to have action again"
(i´m sorry about my english, it´s truly bad but i had to comment)

Garlic smells delicious when being cooked.
It only takes on that foul odour once it has been eaten.

I absolutely detest the smell and taste of garlic. Trouble is, chefs in Restaurants use it profusely and there is no mention on the menu ,that garlic has been added. TV chefs promote the use of garlic and add it to just about everything. It'll be in puddings next. I want to taste the natural flavour of the food, not stinky foul tasting garlic.I have on occasions had to leave a restaurant, because someone on a nearby table had a strong smelling garlicy dish, otherwise I would have been gagging and upsetting other people. Being cooped up in a lift with a garlic eater is a nightmare. If only they knew how bad they smell. Not only Garlic is a pet hate, but anything in the onion family, I avoid and ask for dishes without, because they are in so many dishes.
Is anyone else affected like myself? Surely I'm not alone.

Gotta love the high horse garlic people, I have never ever had to breathe in a smell so pungent, and no I'm not an immature eater, I eat a wide variety of fruits and vegetables, but garlic is way too strong for me, it comes out of your pores of your skin, it has seriously affected my intimacy with my wife and although I put in the extra effort to make sure my stinky feet don't bother her (they don't bother me, but they bother her, so I buy foot deoderizers, yet when I complain about the garlic, I'm being insensitive. Tell me now, which source of odor would be in a worse spot for.. being intimate. foot smell or garlic? One stays in a localized area, the other, is strongest in the mouth, reeks through the skin, and even makes going down on your loved one a battle of love vs. your nose. And yes I realize that sounds insensitive, but its not that am picky, I truly can't stand the smell, its too much for me.

I eat a lot of garlic and personally I'm not too worried about my breath smelling of it.
I think there are far worse things than garlicbreath. Beer breath is far more offensive to me.

I guess it's each to their own and show tolerance towards others.

Still no mention of the "three major health dangers" though; I'd still like to know what they are!

That might be the case John, but if you really can't stand Garlic and someone's breathing their garlic all over you it's not pleasant. Everyone has something they think is smelly and really don't like. For me, I love Garlic but I can't stand the smell of Tuna, or any fish for that matter. Each to their own but one should respect other peoples' sense of smell.

It is 6. They believe it is good for them. It is officially the healthiest food in the world. Plus it tastes nice.

tree, what are these major health dangers and can they be caused by inhaling garlic fumes from someone who has eaten it, or would the sufferer actually have to eat garlic?

Garlic can be very beneficial to the health, and you can't really expect others not to eat it if they have been told it would be good for them!

so garlic jr, what about those people allergic to garlic? does that mean I also eat liked a child or a person with no appreciation of taste ?for your information, garlic happens to have three major health dangers, so do your research before judging people.also, I think you must like garlic so much that it is all you taste in your food,it kills the subtle tastes and ruins the pallet ,so as for your comment about taste...i would rather sit in a room filled with smokers than one garlic eater. dont be fooled, you can damage your health by eating too much of it, it has powerful properties.one more thing, are you anti- smoking , or anti - smelly people ?i think there is something out there that gets your goat ! ps, dont say that you advocate"live and let live" when you are judging people in the same paragraph !

It is very stinky, and sadly I am guilty. I love it! And, it's a huge health benefit. Just find the perfect soul mate, marry him/her but only if they share your passion. You won't care so much for sitting next to others and being stood up for dates, or smooching in the back of the movie theater, so long as you have your garlic loving love next to you. My apologies to all the people that I must affect day in and day out.

I love garlic.I love it so much I can eat it in cloves anyone who does not like garlic either A. Does not know how to eat like an adult and has no appreciation for or taste in real food whatsoever. B.Is ignorant of the fact that allot of popular foods contain it. C.Is like a kid that is "eww gross" to all the stuff mature people eat. D.Has never fought off the flu within a day or two and or E.Is so much of a whiny ass kisser in real life that they will not dare eat anything that might turn off a few of their superficial friends. If you ask me it is good stuff and I do not care what people say especially anti-garlic people.Plus garlic breath does not smell bad unless you do not brush your teeth or you are some nitpicker that does not eat it.Did you know you cannot smell it if you eat it yourself? I guess not in other words you fail :) Just live and let live.If there is something you do not like do not have anything to do with it or at least do not whine about and criticize others about it.

Koreans eat raw garlic. You will find the French divine fragrant little petals after an afternoon (after lunch) meeting in Seoul.

Why is it that whenever I purchase a pack of brown envelopes - whatever brand - they smell like a newly decorated house but sometimes it can be as bad as if you are close to a water treatment plant? There might be some recycled elements in these products but you don't have to hold them up to your nose - the smell hits you once you open the cellophane they are wrapped in.

I would rather a garlic eater to a smoker. Garlic might be strong and linger but not as unpleasant as cigarette smoke.

Could the government consider a garlic ban in enclosed places?

Analogy: similarity in some respects between things that are otherwise dissimilar.

Simile: a figure of speech comparing two unlike things.

Must be an analogy then, with emphasis on the "anal"
