Annoyed by TV presenters who mumble on BBC Click

I really enjoy watching BBC click, it's probably one of my favourite factual programmes and I regularly tune in to watch it on the BBC iPlayer on the Wii each week.

There's only one thing that spoils my viewing pleasure though and it's TV presenters who mumble.  I often find it quite difficult to follow what Spencer Kelly is talking about.

He often starts of talking about something and then suddenly starts to mumble or lowers his voice making it difficult to hear what he is saying.  I could of course turn up the volume but then it would be loud for the rest of the programme.  Has anyone else noticed this?

To some degree Kate Russel does this as well, although not nearly as bad.  I don't find the Webscape part of the programme that interesting though as it's mostly full of gimmicky sites that to me appear more targeted towards the fairer sex.

A computer mouse, TV presenters who mumble Yes, I know what you're thinking.  It's your flaming hearing mate, you're probably going a but mutton geoff!  Well no, actually it's not.  My hearing is actually very good and I don't think I can blame it on me watching Click on the Wii/iPlayer either.  Everything else I watch on it is fine, it's definitely the TV presenters in this case.

No offence to Spencer.  He seems a pretty knowlegeable guy and the stuff on BBC Click is really interesting.  I just wish the dialogue was all spoken at the same volume level and with a consistent tone.  Maybe they could do something in the production suite before broadcasting the programme.

Come on man... speak up for goodness sake.  As a 'TV presenter' we actually want to be able to HEAR what you've got to say!

I find the increasing use of so called "regional accents" (particularly Scottish) among presenters on TV and radio and for voice over on advertisements irritating. The BBC seem to be one of the worst offenders for this.If a report is coming from say, Scotland a Scottish reporter seems appropriate but when the report is coming from another area particularly if it is England, can we have an English accent. My hearing is not as good as it used to be and I find that I often miss some of the comments due to my inability to understand the words. It takes a little time to adjust

Ivbe got a worse gripe about TV presenters....

Pundits in the studio ie 'BBC Homa Affairs Correspondent' or if they 'Go Live' to a disaster/war/crime scene.

The ridiculous amount of "Well er,er,er as you can,er see behind,me..er,er we understand that,er,er,er,er,er,er,er,er,...."

all that stupid stuttering is to try to sound dramatic. Its on every news program.

They all go to BBC school to 'learn' those hand signals, stuttering etc..

Nonsense.

Perhaps he is being forced to leave by BBC managers who want a bigger slice of the cake?

Some BBC managers are on mega money, hundreds of thousands a year,

Public money, a tax which we are all forced to pay.

I couldn't agree more. What saddens me though is that this vile, smarmy, reptilian excuse for a human being will go to another position with another broadcaster who will pay him an obscene amount of money. At least it won't be public money any longer.

There is one woman newsreader on BBC news 24 who really should be removed. She seems to have a permanent cold, or is it allergic rhynitis, always looks as though she has just got out of bed, and slumps on her desk like she's tired out.

She was shown in Beijing during the Olympics speaking Chinese. Great, but the woman has a health problem. I don't want to see her at mealtimes.

Nor do I want to see obviosly pregnant weather girls. Please, cover up your bulge.

Opinionated, can't think why you want to get rid of Sir Trevor! He is one of the most clearly spoken presenters on the telly.

Davina McCall however, with you 100% there! Can't stand the shouty woman.

Jonathan Ross; with you there too! Stick him on a desert island (with Ms McCall?) so we never have to see or hear from him again.

Spencer Kelly is a sound chap and Click is the dogs b. So what if he mumbles. There's much worse to complain about out there other than a tv presenter. Turn your hearing aid up grandad.

I vote we just get rid of all the crap presenters like Sir Trevor McDoughnut, Davina McCall, Jonathan Ross and now that awful hyped up muppet Deanne Berry on GMTV. If ever there was evidence opposing evolution then she is surely it (along with her cohort Mr Motivator).

While we are on the subject of presenters, the BBC news crew are all totally square old school Blue Peter types who look like they wouldn't have much of a clue about real life, the GMTV bunch are dreadful and need to get a decent wardrobe department that doesn't dress them in nighties, a lot of presenters cannot speak properly and as for regional accents - at least make sure we can understand them!

BBC presenters are actually normally well spoken, some of the best I usually find. I don't watch Click so can't comment on that but I personally find it difficult to hear people with very low voices. Fortunately the wife is partially deaf so the telly is always on max.

I have a theory, if the newsreaders or presenters come from what might loosely called a "theatrical' background they speak clearly, if they come from a "journalistic" background they are not so clear when speaking. The former are trained in dramatic presentation, the latter more familar with the wriiten word.

I think they should have more Welsh, Scottish and Irish TV presenters. The accent would make the show more interesting. Some people have deep voices which I often can't make out and can't they normalise the the voice channel or something automatically so it's all the same?

As far bas women newscasters go I agree! They get rid of the sensible older ones who can speak properly, like Moira Stuart, and bring in identikit bimbos.

I object to woman newscasters these days. They always seem to wear the most hideous, loud, ill fitting clothes. It's so distracting watchiing them I can barely remember what they're saying. They all seem overtly good looking too - with swish make up and hairstyles.

All I expect in a news presenter is someone who is competent, can speak clearly, can deliver the news well in a tone of voice commensurate with the message and looks presentable in a smart sober outfit - not glamorous, sexy, flamboyant or fashionable.

But that seems to much to ask, apparently.

I have a problem with some of the regional accents of presenters on tv and radio. I know it's politically correct to employ people with regional accents, but when the accents are so extreme that the audience can't understand then they have obviously taken it too far!
