UK politics, a poor choice so why vote?
It is time this government went. In fact, in the UK it is time the whole political system was overhauled to do away with the timewasters, the politically correct nonsense and the unfair and ineffectual policies.
If you look at many of the gripes on this site, you'll see many people in this country have a similar frame of mind. Firstly, the harder you work the more you get shafted. Secondly the less you do or are prepared to do for yourself, the more the government will reward you for your laziness. Thirdly, the laws in place to govern this land are outdated and the legal system and politicians are unable to keep up with this mess of a society they helped to create.
How's this for an idea; a party that is based upon common sense, best practice (modelling against successful political systems) and rewards the right-doers in society; a party where greed and personal betterment is set aside in favour of gaining by helping others, working collaboratively and being more community rich. However, in this case the proof would be in the pudding of decent policies fairly carried out rather than empty rhetoric poorly executed.
Thatcher's Britain has left a legacy of personal greed
It seems to me that Thatcher's Britain has left a legacy of personal greed, hostility towards others, and has stripped this country of what were once its proud assets (and many other negative things besides). That was the start of the rot and it has just got worse year upon year.
Personally I choose not to vote as I have no faith in any party to govern this country morally or correctly and I view the political system as inherently flawed and corrupt. I believe when voting that a vote of no confidence should be allowed to be registered. Many of us don’t vote simply because we do not wish to be responsible for the abomination that will form the new government. I am proud of the fact that I never voted for Thatcher, Major, Blair or Brown. I would only have myself to blame for this mess if I had! I hear you say, 'would you prefer anarchy then?' In actual fact I would prefer not to vote at all if I don't want to choose to be governed by any of the available options.
It is time for a change and no, that doesn't mean the Tory party should be our government instead of the labour party. That is exactly what people will do though, not because they believe in Tory policies, they will simply get the Tories in because they don't want a Labour government any more. Then the Tories will of course screw up again and people will want Labour back. We are going round in circles with no other serious rival to those two parties at the present time.
Let’s get real, this is not a democracy (where are the referendums and Mr Brown’s election this year?). Where are our rights to privacy, peace of mind or fairness? I’ll tell you where – absolutely NOWHERE until things change significantly.

Just so long as you're not voting BNP with 53% of the people on here...
However, you must vote - many people do not have the option.
Re-BNP, something must be done to counter the wave of immigration and the "let's have a war" mentality we currently have to endure. This is not racist, but simply reflects the finite space and resources of our small country. I am fed up with folk playing the race card - when will someone stand up and play the UK card?
No good to me as a tax payer. I don't live in London and to see all my taxes being thrown at London just makes me violently sick.
I don't wast my valuable time voting as I would rather urinate in my best hat.

I wonder if those that voted in this way understand all the BNP and its militia style support stand for and would like to see happen to this country.
I don't think they do.
You thought he was tougher than that?
Hmmm. I have always thought of him as a wimp.

Democracy is a made up word, invented by capitalists to keep the general population in it's place.
I’ve no time for racism, and I believe hatred of a person or group purely for their ethnicity is not driving BNP forward in this poll. But what can the average man in the street do in the face of such insane and unsustainable immigration policies and politically correct bias against him? So droves align themselves with the only people brave enough to say they would do something about it?
Everyone else clearly walks on eggshells for fear of what’s seen as the modern day equivalent of heresy, while radical Islamists openly declare war on ‘The infidel’, female circumcision and subjugation of women is rife, ‘honor killings’ and disfigurement of young girls happens, trespass and planning rules are broken. The list is endless.
I stress my disgust for groups that practice such acts extends to those who exploit state benefits, violent yobs, granny beaters etc etc etc be they white, black, pink or any colour of the rainbow.
I’m totally miffed off with the current state of affairs and so is everyone I speak to from the Indian family at the corner shop down.
What else can I do but vote BNP, start my own party called ‘The Quite Nice but Fed Up of Being Ignored Party’?
Genuine suggestions appreciated
I've tried shortening the link to that pdf in case anyone else wants to see it: http://tinyurl.com/36zhh3g
It's a typical governent clerk response, vague and full of catch all phrases and doesn't give a definite answer. No wonder people despair.

I tried posting a link for you but admin filters declared it too long and shortening it did not work.
Try googling "spoilt ballot papers" , keeping the inverted commas. What I tried to post was a link to a pdf file from the electoral commission and was first in the results list.
It appears that the above statement is correct, but the nbumber of spoilt votes does not appear to be published anywhere. Does anyone know if the statistics are in fact available?
