What future has Britain now then?

Well the script-writer of Life in Britain, that dreadful soap-opera, has decided to write down or out the current cast, economically to begin with, and truly and wholly later on.  This show is surely in its last episodes.

Face it, you are all third-rate as citizens, and will be treated as such.  What was supposed to be a true meritocracy has turned into a State run by Mephistopheles.  All you Dr Fausti out there who sold your souls to the Devil [Mrs Thatcher] 24 years ago on the promises of monetarism, that Devil has now come to collect his/her own.

Consider yourself lucky to have a job...

Consider yourself lucky to have a job to commute to, even with rail journeys at £1200 per year?  Well I don't.  My job has been rubbed out, downgraded, and dumbed-down.  I no longer enjoy working anymore anyway.  The interests I had at the start have all since been removed by remote, accountant managers and masters who seek only ridiculously measured and meaningless goals, and who have turned the job into a mental, tortuous, grueling nothing.

A fish market...

Governments and corporations are now like corrupt religions.  We are all awaiting a dissolution of the Monastery.  Who will rid us of these troublesome priests?  Off with their heads: they are all traitors to the cause.

In 50 years from now the Oligarch of Hong Kong will buy up this land lock-stock and barrel to use as a waste dump for toxic materials.  The rest of Europe will put up an ecological barrier to separate their green and pleasant lands from this barren, sterile wilderness.

All the opportunities have dimiished in this country, there's nothing left at all.

It does not help when we have 618 thousand people living here illegally, 442 thousand in and around London alone. That is a lot of people with a huge burden upon our services and purse strings.

It is shocking to think they were allowed in in the first place. What does the Home Office actually do? I mean, 618 thousand is quite a lot of people.

I believe the Minsitry of Agriculture, Farms and Fisheries should be in charge of immigration. They can find an infected cow amongst the millions of cows in Britain but, The Home Office struggle to find terrorists.

Let's call the New Britain Boootique Britain, where all the high streets in all the towns are turned into luxury market stalls for a few chain rag traders. The same is happening across all of Europe. These high margin shops have pushed out all the ordinary stores. The owners of these chains demand large expensive, air conditioned shopping malls like Brent Cross or Westfield.

The problem with the modern rag traders you can't buy a decent pair of ordinary pants anymore. Their clotheses designers design the clothes for eunuchs, with no space for your privates. Don't ask the clothes to fit you; You must now fit the fashion image which in today's climate is a hungry emaciated look, despite the obesity of the hanmburger children.

Along with the shopping mall's the rest of Britain's high streets are turning into charity stalls, or outlets for cheap and nasty third world goods.

I despise my country. I despise its feeble and corrupt political system. I despise its corruption in work, investment and politics. I am poorer for living here than I might have been had I lived elsewhere. I despise our unfair, hierarchical society. I despise the establishment. I despise our attempt in non-involvement in Europe. I despise the way we have given our jobs to the third world.

Are you a young person leaving university this year? This country offers you no proper prospects at all. It gave them away. You will not be able to clear your outrageous debts. You will not share in the nation's wealth until the old-fogeys die off.

Thatcherism plus free market fundamentalism) plus laissez faire capitalism, are in fact precisely the programme to save the world and its economy being sought at the G20 meeting this coming week. It will fail. It will fail Britain. It will destroy this country altogether

Ask yourself how on earth are we going to survive the almost certain depression that is coming?

Britain is ill-prepared for it.

We no longer make anything the world wants anymore. Ask yourself what does Britain do which it is world leader in? Marking Breakfast Marmalade? Actually they do it better and cheaper in Spain. We do nothing the world wants.

I predict Britain will have 30% unemployment within 3 years

15 to 20 million must emigrate from this country, taking nothing with them. All of them will be classed as economic migrants. Even Europe will turn back Britain's"Boat-People". They will end up selling handbags on Spanish tourist beaches.

We don't grow enough food here to feed the nation. We won't be able to afford imports.
High protein foods will become prohibitively expensive.

Oh, and hyperinflation is just around the corner. or the national debt will pauperise 7 generations of nation's future.

What I never understood is why didn't Mrs Thatcher sell of the monarchy along with the rest of the British Family heirlooms? Why weren't places like Windsor Castle and Buck Palace sold off? De-nationalise the Royal Family's land-ownings. Sell off the Duchy of Cornwall.

I am looking forward to a system of monetarism operating in a hyperinflationary economy.

Obnoxious is one of the kinder things I've been called.
The sad reality is that those who have achieved a higher standard for themselves have always been branded by the less fortunate and hard working as 'pompous', 'toffee nosed', 'stuck-up', 'arrogant' and other choice epithets.
Yes I do enjoy a good mass debate too, it's what your right arm's for. What happens if you've been the subject of an arms embargo and have no arms? I suppose you keep out of 'arms way.

Yes, there is some entertainment value in his postings Nick, and pompous twits have been a mainstay of English comedy for years.

Jack, as much as I find him really obnoxious with some of his views I quite enjoy debating with him. I suspect he enjoys a regular mass debate as well. This website wouldn't be quite as much fun if it wasn't for characters ?? like MikeP. He probably bought shares in it.
It's all gone quiet over there Mr P

Ignore him Nick and he may go away.

I'm reminded of a scene in the Fawlty Towers episode The Psychiartrists whenever I read that man's postings - one shrink says to another, after watching Basil's antics, "There's enough material there for a whole conference".

Oh come on .... surely even you can do better than that! are'nt we witty today ?, which bit don't you understand ? Is it the fact that they didn't actually buy the assets in the first place ? is it the fact that they sold them all off ? Is it the fact that the money disappeared ?. You either don't know or won't admit that they spent it all.
*Nick  25-Mar-2009 10:33

Nick, first off you need to learn to phrase your questions correctly.

"The Thatcher government didn't buy any assets did they ? they just sold them and spent all the profits."

Oh come on .... surely even you can do better than that!
*MikeP  25-Mar-2009 10:22

Like a typical politician, skirting around the issue. I didn't ask where profit from selling shares in general goes. Where do you think the billions of pounds that were given to the government to buy assets that were already owned by the British public went ? It's really not that difficult to understand even for a ten year old.
Oh dear. If I buy an asset, tangible or intangible, for £x, and sell it for £2x, I keep the profit after cost of sales, etc.
The Thatcher government didn't buy any assets did they ? they just sold them and spent all the profits.
I hope this makes sense to you, if not I suggest you ask an accountant.
