Onetel email problems and customer service

Over the last two to three years I have been aware of gripes about Onetel's service, but hey, being a regular user off Internet and email, whilst I did have spasmodic problems they were of a minor nature and I found customer services very obliging.

That was until the latter part of 2007 and its been downhill since then accelerating every month at an alarming rate.  First the phone service is okay and generally internet not too many problems, but emails - horrendus.

My problems commenced with difficulty caused by the system not recognising user name or password, albeit they have not changed since being with them, this occurred on various occasions and then emails were taking some time to get through, possibly up to 24 hrs, annoying but I accepted, but now they are surpassing all records.  I am aware emails have been sent up to 3 days ago and they are still somewhere in the ether (I presume).

Having email problems with OneTel Well goodbye Onetel, I have now had enough....

Is this TalkTalks way of getting rid of customers assuming that some will transfer to the parent company.  How can a company that provided a reasonable service be destroyed unless there is an ultimate reason or is it just total ineptness.

Well goodbye Onetel, I have now had enough.  I will now trawl the Internet to find another company that will provide me with the all round service I seek as a customer!

Onetel, do you remember what a customer is there for?  Believe it or not, you are supposed to provide a service that meets your obligations for which you collect a reasonable amount of money each month!

PS - I have provided my email address so you can inform me if you publish my gripe - but the way Onetel are going, I may never know...

Whenever I send an email to Canada, they are always returned saying -

The following message to 'velcoff@ns.sympatico.ca '
was undeliverable. The reason for the problem:
5.4.7: delivery expired (message too old) 'time out'.

I receive this message every time I send an email to any of my contacts in Canada, and this has been going on for a couple of years or so now. I have contacted you before, and your comment has always been, that you have never encountered this before, and that the service provider at the Canadian end must have a block on. This is not the case, and I have had this checked.

Can you please, please, please find a solution

I await your comments. My email is berylpiper@onetel.com

There used to be a company called Onetel in Australia which had poor customer service and went broke a few years ago, so I am wondering if these two are connected?

I've been a Onetel dial-up customer since 2004, and all was well until December last when I contacted them to enquire about installing Broadband.
They told me that B/Band wasn't available using my existing line, but that they could install a suitable line at extra cost. From that time onwards I have had extreme difficulty establishing and maintaining a dial-up connection. Despite numerous complaints to Customer Services and attempts by engineers to solve the problem, it continues to persist. Dial-up to an alternative, pay-as-you-go ISP is uneventful. After 6 months of appalling service I've finally had enough and am transferring to the PostOffice in the next few days - who have confirmed that BroadBand IS available on my existing line, and has been since 2006.

Who is Onetel? - 5-Sep-08 20:45

I switched to Onetel myself a few years ago. Immediately after joining I needed to ask one or two questions and found myself in their call centre nightmare. I'd hang on for 15 minutes. After the 3rd time of not getting thorugh I said to myslef, hang on they're treating me like a knob. I phoned BT asked them to get get me out of there and that was it. When I cancelled my direct debit that got their attention and they were soon on the phone to me - they wished they hadn't. Since then I thought they'd gone Bust! Are you sure you mean Onetel?
