One thing that really gets up my nose is inhaling other peoples' stale cigarette smoke against my will.  It's about time to ban smoking in public places in this country and stamp smoking out once and for all.  You know it makes sense!
Ban smoking in public places

Smelling like a dirty ashtray

There is nothing worse than coming home from a bar or club after an evening out and finding that your clothes smell disgusting because they have been saturated with stench of smoke.  I'm not the only one who is fed up of this, and I'm not  some born again non-smoker, I just wish that I had a choice whether or not I came home smelling like a dirty ashtray.

Another thing that I really hate is walking down the street behind someone smoking a cigarette. Every time they exhale out comes that cloud of stale smoke and bang, you walk straight into it and aside from crossing over to the other side of the street there is very little you can do about it. It is not a pleasant experience and it is one I could live quite happily without.

I know there are a lot of people in this country that smoke and I'll be willing to bet that some that are reading this article are fed up with people who don't smoke always harping on about their 'bad habit' and telling them what to do. The simple fact is though that smokers are affecting the health of non-smokers as well as their own. People die each year just because they have breathed other people’s smoke and that is something we really should be taking seriously.  In my opinion an outright ban on smoking in public places is the only way forward.

There seems to be a huge number of web sites on the internet dedicated to stopping smoking or with information about smoking.  Here are a few that I thought might be of interest.

The Net Doctor
This site is very interesting as it contains information on many health issues as well as smoking. The link above takes you to a page all about smoking and how to quit and it even includes an 'addiction calculator'.  Definately a site worth checking out in my opinion.

Lung Cancer
The facts about lung cancer.  Another page from the Net Doctor site which may be of interest to those who smoke!

Women and Lung Cancer
An interesting site with some pretty dramatic statements regarding lung cancer among women.
Apparently the information is slightly out of date now though because breast cancer has just recently overtaken lung cancer.

Easy in Edimburgh,
You haven't got anything to say, and you haven't read any article that makes you feel good.

Say something that has some sense to others.

to SuperBambinoCattivo,
How thoughtless and heartless are you??This is not the only problem in society that we try to advocate against-there are things like kidnapping and robbery that we are very concerned about, too. But this is one of our points--do you not care what you are doing to other people when you smoke your cigarette in order for yourself to feel good?
I am not trying to be rude or anything, I am just trying to peacefully prove my point now. If you do have to smoke at all oustide of your house, can you at least try to keep in mind the fact that some people around you may not like that nicotine that they are breathing in?

Thank you for listening to me,

I just recently read this article and feel inspired now not to smoke anymore. It's amazing, just a couple of wisdomatic words from my newspaper I get every Saturday. No more cigarettes which means no more unorganized lifestyles which means no more stress which means no more struggles to get every morning only to find another one along the way. I feel so happy, words aren't put to measure! THank YoU!!!!!!!!!!!!

To Some Random Person, Fits Kid and Concerned Father.

Do you really know your business?

There are problems in society that are ABOVE that of smoking but you people seem to be stuck on this one for whatever inexplicable reason.

The old known fairy tale about second hand smoke (completely invented) is laughable and not true, but there are people that simply don't like it, and so...it is sufficient to smoke where the smoke does not get at you - tha's all!

But you are dramatising, meaning you are making it much bigger than it is!

Understand, I am not against you but I cannot agrre with people that do not tolerate others.

Regards

You know, us non-smoking tax payers have to use our income to put food in our families' mouth, but instead have to tell our kids, "Well, maybe we can eat tomorrow," and then waste our low-wage income on paying for purifiers in a person's cigarette. Does that sound fair?? Maybe if no one had a pack of smokes each day, our families could eat!!
Thanks a lot, you nicotine inhaling morons!! I agree with First Kid and Other Kid. At least they know what they're talking about...
Go eat a tobacco weed,

To, dear SuperBambinoCattivo,
Ok, us adolescents know a lot more the you idiotic, moronic, etc. adults. Why do you want to destroy and tear apart your already mishappen lives over a little death stick? Have you not learned in Kindergarten what cigarette smoke does to your immune system? I would rethink this whole idea of wasting my life away and make a clear path for life in my cloudy head. Thank you listening to my words of wisdom.

to SuperBambinoCattivo

if you find a package on your doorstep filled with nicarette fruit splash gum, DON'T BE SUPRISED!! dumb butt (meaning the much worse version)
*some random person  09-May-2008 15:36

To the Other Kid.
This website hasn't changed a comma over the decision to smoke or not to smoke.
And while I am writing this I am smoking a very nice cigarette which you hate of course, but who gives a damn! It takes much more than that to stop smoking - probably not even an earthquake can do it. People that really HATE smoking are people with considerable problems of their own and are intollerant and usually have no friends.

I'm a smoker and since the ban came in in wales I've not been worried, but I enjoy waking up the morning after and having the choice whether to put the same clothes back on

I'm sure glad that some cities are banning people to smoke in public places. without that, I would be at a funeral with all of my friends and family crying thier eyeballs out over my smoke infected body. keep it smoke free!!
*yep, you guessed it, yet another kid  08-May-2008 17:27

I agree, wholeheartedly. This kid is the truth. And, thank you, for not only changing, but also saving, the rest of my physical, social, and emotional life. without you guys, I would not be here

a truly sincere shout-out to the creators of "Weekly Gripe",

Smoking is volatile dispicable and neurologicalliputically wrong in its actions, in its words, and in its smoke. When I inhale all the nicotine and toxic smoke I feel a bit whimsical, but that is the downfall. Now I have changed not only my attitude, but my outlook on life. Thank you for creating this website and making people more aware of the consequences.

A sincere thank you,
