Oh no, not another Talk Talk gripe

Oh no not another Talk Talk gripe - Oh yes it is! After 4 months of trying to chase up my modem,(free broadband is the bit that entices you to them).  I was told that actually it had not been ordered for me.

Well this was bad enough, but add on the dozens of calls to talk talk that either:-

a) Never got passed the automated answer voice saying that "all operators are busy right now - please try again later."

b) Got through to Delhi and they had no idea how to take my complaint to the next level

c) Getting cut off half way through a conversation that probably would have got no where anyway!

By dozens of calls, I sincerely mean dozens.  Today I got through and decided enough was enough.  I left my ISP and BT to save money, but I will welcome them back with open arms, they did nothing wrong really, I just tried to save a few quid that’s all.

In conclusion, Talk Talk provide the worst customer experience I have ever received and I’m sure that if I find the tonic that will give me infinite life it will not be beaten.  I will cancel my direct debit in the morning and will stand in court to defend myself rather than pay for a service I had no chance of ever getting.

If Talk Talk were to advertise based on how they actually perform, taking away all the spin and lies it would read “Talk Talk - probably the worst customer service in the world!”

Thank you - I feel far better.

To be fair, as a previous tiscali subscriber, I find the system has improved since Talk Talk took over and remodelled it, that is when it's working! I have a ubiquitous problem that occurs when I try to log in. Instead of opening my mail system, an Apacne Tomcat Error Report appears. This means I cannot conduct my day to day business, in respect of anyone sending, or expecting to receive material from me. It's costing me in both lost time, and potential business opportunities. It could be compared with a postal symem failure.
I am seriously contemplating resorting to litigation against Talk Talk, in respect of their failure to provide a service that is fit for purpose and subsequent loss of earnings, under the trades description legislation.
Perhaps if a significant number of dissatisfied Talk Talk customers threatened them with legal action, they may get the message, that although their call centre is tucked away in India, they are not immune from civil legal requirements?

I could rant on for hours about talk talk and bad customer relations but lets just point out a few niggles.

Home move is terrible and I mean terrible, can't keep your same number even if it’s the same street, charged £50 for administration (what administration, its just a new account!?), given new contract of at least 18months no matter how far through your old contract you were.

Contacting them is impossible. I registered an on line account, sent them a question using the my account feature on their website and got an email back stating due to data protection they needed more info such as bank account number the direct debit comes from..etc. Why would someone want to contact them on my behalf to change a direct debit date??? I replied to an email from them to get a reply stating they cannot accept questions by email….. crazy.

Cannot change direct debit date even if you cancel it to start at the beginning of the month, I can do this for gas, electric, sky and almost all other bills even the council tax can be changed from start to middle of the month but noooo not talk talk.

I could go on but really what is the point, they won't listen or change there ways. There cheap and I guess the simple fact is you get what you pay for, rant over!

I have had exactly the same problem, I had been with BT for 20 years, and finally changed to save money, however I have had to spend money on a dongle to get internet, as Talk Talk havent sent it, and after many phone calls, they don't seem to be solving the problem.

They are utterly useless and I would say to anybody thinking of swapping dont use Talk Talk.

I have been ringing talktalk almost on a daily basis asking what has happened about the repair to my line and being told I was on high priority I discover that actually they had been adding each and every call to a closed fault and that it actually went nowhere, the line engineers had never been advised of the fault - to say I am angry is an understatement, I have explained to them over and over that my internet is my life line and that having a dicky heart it was causing me untold stress and therefore was really bad for my health - it seems that the whole time not one of them gave a damn. I am unable to use my landline because the crackle is so horrendous that I cannot hear anything that is said. One guy actually wanted to cancel the fault totally because I said that it had been better that day and no matter what I said he would not listen, my husband took the phone and told the guy in no uncertain terms that what I was asking for was absolutely reasonable and to listen to what I said. I am furious beyond anything that can be labelled, how dare they assume that I will just sit and wait any longer, if it is not repaired by the end of today then I am going to be contacting ofcom because this is not what I am paying them good money for and I am not prepared for my health to be made worse due to the stress they have caused me.

I have the same experience with talk talk. This company is utterly useless and I truly honestly recommend EVERYONE in this country to not be fooled by saving a pound or what - the service is the WORST I have ever seen in my life. They were so 'kind' to switch me from tiscali to talk talk 'no problem sir' and I found myself being billed twice for 6 months - we are now 9 months later and after 10s of calls, emails, letters, I still have to get my money back and everyone there sends me to other departments - with so many apologies (whatever that means) and promises to fix it (but nothing happening subsequently). This company should be taken down.

alk Talk - the worst ISP in - 1-Feb-11 14:48

With all this mess surrounding TalkTalk, it wouldn't surprise me if their security guards are on high alert, just in case things get too out of hand, like serious punch ups in the boardroom meetings!!

Who Cares - 17-Jan-11 23:48

According to 'Mail Online' Ofcom has ordered TalkTalk to compensate customers for incorrect billing charges, repair credit ratings damaged by false solicitations and has called for the withdrawal from legal proceedings against non breached customers. If TalkTalk does not get it's act together it could face a hefty fine of up to 10% of the company's turnover. For those of you who don't know, this has been in effect since December of last year. A spokesman for Talk Talk "apologised for the inconvenience caused". Isn't that what they always do?....Only!!

Fed Up Still!! - 17-Jan-11 17:17

TalkTalk have been awful since I joined them. I have had no phoneline since Thursday and therefore cannot phone their premium rate helpline - free if my phone was working! No answer to countless emails, no help from 0800 numbers - disaster. Can't wait til end of contract!

Finally I've got some back up. I've been with this horrendous company,ie TalkTalk, for over a year now and already I'm ready to call it quits. The only thing stopping me from disconnecting is the fact that I can't really afford the disconection fee. However if life with TalkTalk continues on in this way, I'm just gonna have to passup on something that I'm now spending my money on. I've numerous complaints, too many to mention as space will not allow, but I will say that I am absolutely fed up with TalkTalk and they know it. Ofcom is my next move.

Tracy Astwood - 15-Jan-11 19:52

I agree with the many comments condemning Talk Talk's dismal customer relations. I moved house last September after giving TT notice of the move, they are still billing me for the old phone line, which no longer exists. I have contacted them by phone and letter to resolve this issue and found them to be both dishonest and useless. I was promised a line at my new house within days of moving in. As no line has materialised several weeks later I phoned Home Movers and agreed that there was no longer a contract: they hadn't provided a line and I wouldn't continue to pay. The call took an hour or so as you get passed from person to person and have to listen to tedious music - they don't even vary the song, just repeat it like a torture! It was a waste of time as nobody at TT seems to tell anyone else what has been agreed. In subsequent phone calls TT denied that this original, key conversation had happened. I have written letters to specific executives to attempt to resolve this matter but they do not reply, and appear not even to accept Recorded Delivery letters from their customers. Their communication of choice is the threatening letter telling you that a debt collector will visit or that legal action is about to be initiated. They are by a mile the most appalling company I have ever dealt with: it is like a nightmare, you cannot get free of them even when you no longer have any service from them. I don't know how to deal with this situation - perhaps by paying the bill and then claiming it back at the Small Claims Court with costs for the hours and hours of work their incompetentce and fondness for demanding money with menaces has caused me. Have nothing to do with TalkTalk.

I and my partner decided to go for talktalk broadband with land line,i called up customer service and the guy I spoke to didnt give me the complete amount of money I was surposed to pay,few days later I got a letter saying I have to pay an extra 79.99 which I was not awear of so I called them back to cancel and the person I spoke to confirmed the order has been canceled,a day after I still got a message on my pone saying my order was on d way and so engineers are coming over to my house so I rang them, again and was speaking to one of their staffs ,she asked for my name and asked me to hold on when she came back I told her to make it snappy cos I havent got much credit on my phone and she placed me on hold and never returned till my credit ran out,if they still go ahead and charge me I will make sure I get my lawyer to sue them.

It's gotten to the point with TalkTalk now that they no longer allow me to speak to 1st or 2nd line technicians (Call centre monkeys) - And I get passed directly to management if I have to contact them - This has worked wonders, I LOVE dressing down a middle manager who sits in a corner office all day with his finger up his Ar$e pretending he actually knows something about broadband connections and networking - probably tells his mates he's an IT High level manager for brownie points and drives a Porsche Pen1s Extension to boot.....

Currently I've reduced three of these to shouting and swearing on the phone, two more to actually hanging up on me after I've fixed their faults for them and a sixth one to tears after he promised to refund my entire talktalk bill for the last three months.....

My weapon of choice with these muppets? COMMON SENSE! - Works EVERYTime!

Shambles - get an email telling from talk talk customer relations saying they personally are dealing with my complaint. After trying to speak to them several times (over 4 hours on the phone) I was told the person who signed the email does not exist !

Avoid at all costs
