No more Chris Evans radio show
|
Is anyone else really fed up with listening to Chris Evans on his Radio 2 show broadcast every day around teatime? I do admit that he can be quite funny at times and I often enjoy the show, but he is no comparison to Johnny Walker surely? |

What Chris did on Wednesday teatime was unforgivable! He announced the following song - the brilliant 1990s hit by Mark Morrison 'Return of the Mack' - played it for only five seconds, during which my friends and I excitedly turned the sound up so that we could enjoy the song, when suddenly without warning, he cut the record and said smugly "No, don't worry, I am not going to play that!". We turned off the radio in disgust... |

What gives and why did he start playing the song in the first place? We turned off the radio in disgust and have not switched it on since! Chris Evans is obviously quite full of himself these days and I won’t be listening to his show in the future. Why can’t radio broadcasters play a complete song without ruining it by talking through it or cutting it short? We want to listen to music, not dribs and drabs of sound bites punctuated by inane rambling, jingles and adverts. We want to listen to music and we want to hear the whole song thank you. In this case Chris Evans did more than cut the song short he insulted his audience! By: Ruth, Lancaster, England |

I also admire him to a certain extent; he is living proof of just how much a person can change.
The one who the grumpyoldman & I can't stand in the mornings is Vanessa Feltz. Fortunately we only hear the last half hour, more would drive us to another station. The best word I can come up with is gushing. She just gushes all over the place! Far too much for that time of day. Then there are the updates on what you have missed on the show so far. Grrrrrrr!

Tommy, I find him quite funny; you obviously don't. We don't all have the same sense of humour; I'll give you that.
As to the charity thing, you could say the same thing about most celebrities who do something for charity. Most of the time we don't know how much they give without publicity; Chris Evans may give quietly or he may not. But at least he does something; many probably do nothing at all.
His listening figures are very good so he must be doing something right. Oh, and I made a mistake; the surprise interview is in fact 3 minutes, not 5.

However he seems to be living proof that people can change. When he first came to Radio 2 he covered Bank Holidays and much to my surprise I found that I quite enjoyed his shows.
I was a bit dubious about him taking over from the Togmeister (that's Terry Wogan, MikeP) but he has been very good in my opinion. He is a reliable pair of hands, capable of doing 5 minute interviews with a surprise guest and no time to prepare.
His shows are fun and the music is good, and he has just hosted a 4 day fund raising event for Children in Need.
Oh, and when he's on the radio you don't see his "vile" ginger hair or his "paedophile" glasses! (Didn't know that paedophiles wore a special type of glasses; do the police know they are so easy to spot?)

Those that really dislike him will probably be disappointed to hear that he has increased the breakfast show audience beyond the amount that used to listen to Terry. The show has also won industry awards.
I guess he must be doing something right!
That way, you don't have to listen to the likes of Chris Evans, whoever he might be.
Chris can be funny, as you said, but it can get too much sometimes.

I used to listen until 0740 and when Terry left he said give Chris a chance.
I tried for a few weeks but I could not stand his shouting and childish presentation.
Why can't we have somebody presenting the breakfast show like Richard Allinson ?
