I went in on Monday after work to do my weekly shop and wasn’t surprised to leave without having got everything on my shopping list.  One thing in particular that they always seem to be out of stock of is Tesco Healthy Living Greek Yoghurt and many a time they have been out of Healthy Living Cranberry Juice.  So this time I decided to visit the next day hoping that they would have replenished their stock but surprise, surprise, they were still out of stock.

When I was paying for my shopping at the till I mentioned it to the lady and she said I ought to make a complaint to the Customer Services desk.  So I went up to the desk and explained to the lady that I really don’t like to complain but am fed up that every time I visit this particular store that I am unable to complete my weekly shop and mentioned the obvious stock problems of Greek Yoghurt.  She said that maybe they were having problems with their supplier.  But I told her that I have never seen any stock of this particular yoghurt even though there is a clearly labelled space in the fridge for it.  I found this strange because they always seem to have stock in the Tesco 10 miles up the road, so that wasn’t really an excuse.

Shopping trolly park

Another moan about my local Tesco is their pricing.  I have noticed the prices slowly creeping up especially on one particular item, their Healthy Living Cranberry Juice.  It has always been 63 pence for a 1 litre carton.  Then one day whilst doing my weekly shop I noticed that it was priced at 83 pence.  I mentioned this at the till and the lady said they did seem to be putting up their prices.  When I questioned this at the Customer Services desk I was told that the price was correct and she didn’t really give me a reason as to why it had gone up 20 pence in just a week. Now you can understand the prices of things going up a few pence but a whole 20 pence is just a bit much.  Funnily enough when I went in a couple of weeks later the price had changed again, this time it was 73 pence.

Back to their stock issues, you can just forget going to Tesco on a sunny Saturday in summer to get your rolls and burgers for BBQ’s because they will always be out of stock.  You’d think they would plan to have more stock when the weather looks set to be good.

Just what on earth do Tesco think they are playing at?  One moment they don’t have stock and the next they are creeping up their prices.  I'm seriously thinking of doing my shopping elsewhere to be honest, at least I’m more likely to completely my weekly shop in one go.

I work at tesco - the summer before I'm leaving for Uni - and you are right. It is never full, but the warehouse is full of stock. The reason? servilely understaffed! I have to work 5 departments on my part time shift - and tills.

The rolls and buns on sunny days is true at our store as well. that is due to not ordering enough. We usually run out at around 12:00 on a sunny day.

I cannot wait to leave this place. It's terrible.

Couldn't agree more. My 2 local stores never have Tesco's Healthy Living /Lighter Choice Burgers. These were absolutely delicious and you couldn't tell they were low fat as they were succulent and full of flavour. Tesco's promote themselves as a Healthier Choice and keep encouraging us to join their Dieting on-line, yet have stopped stocking a very good product!

I too have recently been having pricing problems with Tesco and they are always rising. I also buy Tesco Value Chicken noodles for 9p and when I went in the other day they had gone up to 14p. Also I used to buy the Tesco Value shortbread biscuits for 13p and they have jumped to 30p for a small pack in just a week..over 3 times the original price. I also mentioned this to the customer services who gave no real explanation other than the prices do change. Its really annoying making a list and making sure you have enough money and when you get there all of the prices have gone up alot. I am seriously going to shop elsewhere. I am glad that someone else is just as annoyed as me

1) Prices of products in supermarkets will and do fluctuate. I am astounded that you wasted you and the customer service's desk time by asking about a price increase on Cranberry Juice. Yes, it is annoying when prices go up, but generally there are so many factors involved in the cost of each item (availability, changes in suppliers, problems with crops, the economy etc etc). Plus, I'm certain that the customer services assistant would not be aware of all price changes.
2) Staff do not have much say in what stock comes in. I do not work for Tescos (and never have), but they don't give their staff a lot of autonomy, which means that computers are often making calculated guesses at stock levels. I won't bore you with the full details of the complex system involved in stock replenishment.
3) Tescos is a shop, not Alladin's magic cave. No store will have every item in stock. Yes, they generally have daily deliveries, but I bet you're the same kind of person who moans when you get stuck behind one of those big delivery lorries.
4) There really are bigger things to worry about in life, like world hunger and incurable diseases.

tesco are filth, my mate worked for them 12-14 hr split shifts...when he had found something better his pay was missing a lot of hours...it took threats of local paper publicity just to get paid in full.

I don't know if I am alone here but when I go in to tesco I find it really un-organised and the cost of many items seems really high compared to other supermarkets ?

I think you should get over it and go do your shopping somewhere else if it bothers you so much and you should just get a life.

I'd also like to add that the problems with Tescos stock could easilly be a result of the looming world food crisis of which you all probobly know nothing about because you like to read the very informative, verified and completely truthful papers.

I work for tesco and have done for the last 5 years.im 44 years old and feel about 6 most of the time the managers have no respect whatsoever for staff only the customers..

I only ever shop at tesco at night, when the crowds of council estate scum are in the pubs, and not crowding the aisles and checkouts with their bad hair and football shirts and beer bellies. It makes it so much easier to get around.

If Tesco treated their customers like they did their staff, they would be bankrupt and out of business within a month.
