I went in on Monday after work to do my weekly shop and wasn’t surprised to leave without having got everything on my shopping list.  One thing in particular that they always seem to be out of stock of is Tesco Healthy Living Greek Yoghurt and many a time they have been out of Healthy Living Cranberry Juice.  So this time I decided to visit the next day hoping that they would have replenished their stock but surprise, surprise, they were still out of stock.

When I was paying for my shopping at the till I mentioned it to the lady and she said I ought to make a complaint to the Customer Services desk.  So I went up to the desk and explained to the lady that I really don’t like to complain but am fed up that every time I visit this particular store that I am unable to complete my weekly shop and mentioned the obvious stock problems of Greek Yoghurt.  She said that maybe they were having problems with their supplier.  But I told her that I have never seen any stock of this particular yoghurt even though there is a clearly labelled space in the fridge for it.  I found this strange because they always seem to have stock in the Tesco 10 miles up the road, so that wasn’t really an excuse.

Shopping trolly park

Another moan about my local Tesco is their pricing.  I have noticed the prices slowly creeping up especially on one particular item, their Healthy Living Cranberry Juice.  It has always been 63 pence for a 1 litre carton.  Then one day whilst doing my weekly shop I noticed that it was priced at 83 pence.  I mentioned this at the till and the lady said they did seem to be putting up their prices.  When I questioned this at the Customer Services desk I was told that the price was correct and she didn’t really give me a reason as to why it had gone up 20 pence in just a week. Now you can understand the prices of things going up a few pence but a whole 20 pence is just a bit much.  Funnily enough when I went in a couple of weeks later the price had changed again, this time it was 73 pence.

Back to their stock issues, you can just forget going to Tesco on a sunny Saturday in summer to get your rolls and burgers for BBQ’s because they will always be out of stock.  You’d think they would plan to have more stock when the weather looks set to be good.

Just what on earth do they think they are playing at?  One moment they don’t have stock and the next they are creeping up their prices.  I’m seriously thinking of doing my shopping elsewhere to be honest, at least I’m more likely to completely my weekly shop in one go.

Angie, You are so right about the delivery driver comments. I was once kept waiting for an hour OUTSIDE one of their RDCs before they even let me in. They even had the cheek to hold me up for another 4 hours once I was inside. How long does it take to remove 50 boxes of turkey breast off a 7.5 tonner and sign for them? They even make the drivers lock their cabs now and hand their keys in and are forced to sit around for hours in a waiting room. It's all supposedly done in the interests of 'health and safety'. Baaaahh!

Road Virus,

I was about to gripe about the Tesco related gripes by suggesting at least £10 be involved for a topic so we can get back to what's really ruining this country, the chavs, rather than hear boring old pensioners have a coronary over 20p price increases on cranberry juice. (No offense, love!)

Then I read your tale of sticking it to the man, which was really very funny. I'm sure it was a good time, well done!

I'd love to run into Tesco's and throw a match into the fireworks aisle(when it's getting near November) then run like hell and watch the whole shooting match get blown sky-high!!

Maybe one of the reasons Tesco can't keep their shelves stocked is because of the amount of time they hold up delivery drivers at their depots. I have delivered their several times and 3 to 4 hour waits are the norm, sometimes longer. They are'nt always polite to us drivers either. I don't shop at Tesco because of the way they treat drivers it srikes me they don't have a lot of respect for their customers either. They just rely on peoples greed for a bargain.

I am getting fed up with poor stock in the Tesco Extra in Great Yarmouth. This is a huge store and the everyday stuff they are running out of is not acceptable.

Yesterday they had run out of the following very normal items:
Thirst Pocket Kitchen Rolls
Country Life Butter
Andrex Toilet Rolls

And the English Bottled Beers are getting fewer and fewer and continental beer taking it's shelf space.

I don't know what the policy is for stocking in Tesco, but if they keep running out of everyday items, my policy will be to shop elsewhere!

"Worker" - you sound way too bright to be working at Tesco, or rather working on the shop floor!

Continued....

Fresh availability is shocking in stores though, and I think it is awful, especially in 24hour stores. It isn’t getting better, although it is being looked at.

Loose on the vine tomatoes. Strange one this. Why only sell this type? - Tesco say it’s to improve shelf life at home. I feel its more to do with now having to pay for the stalks, you know what they say, "Every Little Helps" - their profits.

Their profits, none of which general assistants get I assure you. When Tesco announce their billions of profits, store directors getting thousands in pay rises, store staff get, a massive, FREE ONE DAY BUFFET LUNCH. Stores are also told, spend no more than £1.50 per head, and are even given a list of products to use. Yay, lets work hard so directors who sit in luxury offices get thousands, and we the stressed, over worked, get £1.50 worth of buffet.

I do like working for Tesco, but it does suck on times.

I work for Tesco.

Checkout staff are paid higher than all other supermarkets, and only have to carry out, 6 steps at the checkouts to make sure they serve a customer correctly. SIX STEPS, it's not rocket science, although to many it is. Most staff fail on the simple one of saying, "Hello, do you have a Clubcard?". As for scanning rates etc, you're getting paid to do a job, so Tesco want their monies worth. If you were working in a factory, you would have to work at a certain speed.

As for pricing, again, it is not up to individual stores to set products pricing. If any item is unavailable, fill out a comment card, listing the exact product's details, and barcode if possible, including your contact detail for a reply. If a product disappears from the shelves and labels removed, there is very little chance a store can get it back, as they aren’t able to access that product's information as soon as it drops off the system. Even though, you or many others buy the discontinued product in your store, other stores may not sell it so well so they discontinue it from all stores.

I too work in Tesco and do not understand why we aren't allowed to use the void key. I mean its so easy to accidently double scan things and it is so frustrating getting hold of supervisors to void things out!!!

I HATE TESCO! I slaved there in between college ten years ago and detested every minute of it. My boss was an idiot, the customers were common scum(mainly from the council estate nearby) and the flourescent lights would give me a blinding headache. But I got my own back! One manic Bank Holiday saturday, the store was heaving. Full of badly dressed fat men wearing the usual uniform of football shirt and trainers and their just as obnoxious fat slapper wives and their screaming brats and the local inbreds from the rural outskirts of town. My shift finished at two(thank Christ!), so I was able to enjoy the rest of the day. I clocked out of the store then went back upstairs to the changing rooms. I removed the small toolbag from my locker then made my way to Maintenance. The key to the control room was kept on top of the door frame(how dull can you get?), made sure there was nobody in sight, then unlocked the door and slipped inside. The first job was easy. The control boards for the climate control were locked behind a perspex door. No problem. A screwdriver in the lock had me in in seconds. I threw all the switches one by one and soon enough, all the units in the store shut down one by one! Then I blew all the power in the store by simply throwing a few levers on the Mains controls then flicked all the toggles on the fuseboards! Downstairs it was chaos because I could hear shouting coming from far away that the emergency generators and standbys wouldn't kick in! Time to go, so I got the hell out of there, locked the door and put the key back where I found it. Then to put the final nail in the coffin, hit the fire alarm bell by the staff exit door then RAN LIKE HELL!!! They never found out who did it, MWAHAHAHAHA!

Is it me? Since Tesco started selling their tomotoes 'on the vine', they just don't keep! Could it be that the stalks and other extra annoying bits bruise the fruit? When tomatoes were sold 'loose', they kept perfectly well for an acceptable length of time, but now I always seem to be throwing damaged, rotting ones away! As I live quite a distance from my local store, it's not convenient for me to shop more regularly, and as I said, I've never found it to be a problem before!
