Hell is other people, both on the Internet and in the real world.   For starters, I am sick of online journals and blogs because they're all very self-centred and stupid.  I don't have time or the patience for childish games or tedious things that make me wonder why I even spend my time doing them.  I don't have time or interest to post pictures of me, or pictures of myself and my significant other on our trips or wearing our daily attire in order to create the impression that we are somehow having a great relationship and our clothes are cool in a very off-kilter way, which means we are still hip and know how to relate to the young crowd.

Hell is other people

I don't take well to the idea of plastering my visage on journals and websites in order to impress a mostly blind and stupid horde of web people I don't even know, and, if I knew them, would then rather not.  I don't care to write about myself in the past, present, and whatever tense, about my daily life and the things I've bought or the things I will buy, or else something about where we're going out, or advertising how wonderful a couple we are because we go out together so much and so forth and so on.

There are so many people doing the same thing today, I wonder what the purpose is.  I wonder what the purpose is, more so, if they are already in a "relationship"; ah yes, that overused and mostly abused term that means you are put-together and your life is fine because you are in “a relationship”.

There are so many people I've learned to avoid because they are doing the same as everyone else: posting their pictures and bragging about this and that they've done, and where they're going, what shrink they're seeing, ad nauseum, ad nauseum.  Even the few one or two people who might have just a little speck of genius must write entries about seeing the latest Johnny Depp movie, because he's so cool and everyone has to still relate to the world of common men because they want to be liked and hey, they've still got to pander their "Goth" or whatever you want to call it stuff on whatever bland and uninteresting online CD stores they're using to sell their atrocious CD’s on.

I encounter the same problem, really, in "real time" just as much, and, being surrounded by commercialism and consumerism and it's pretty hard to not be disappointed all-around.

I can't go to the store anymore to buy a CD, even if it actually does interest me.  This is because I know at the end of the day the "artist" only wants to make lots of money and/or become popular. Once something is popular it no longer interests me.

I can't buy fiction anymore, because it's all the same regurgitated crap, over and over and over... really... when does it ever end?

Movies?  Forget it.  The only thing I can stand nowadays is Asian horror; at least it's honest somehow, and lacks in all the big gore and explosion that filmgoers need to satiate their inability to cope with real life.

Does everyone want the same things; money, popularity, and adulation?  I find the latter two despicable, while money, if used creatively, can be helpful, specifically for paying bills and so forth; but popularity and adulation, well, if you're going to sell yourself, then why not come out into the open and just admit it?

I don't want to hear about how smart you are, or how popular you are, or how you have this extensive history of chumming with all the right people and you're now 40 or 50 and trying to fit into the same leather pants from yesteryear.

It's time to come up with new priorities and new ideas.  It's time to change.

"I don't care to write about myself in the past, present, and whatever tense, about my daily life..."

Aren't you contradicting yourself? What are you doing here?? You're writing about YOUR gripe and telling everyone about it.

Cheer up! There's more to life than worrying about what others are saying, thinking, writing, typing, texting... there's a whole world out there waiting to be explored, parts of the world where technology and popularity doesn't matter... where people, believe it not, have no gripes whatsoever.

I like to discover new interests. I find it interesting to read about what other people do as their hobby and how they spend their time. It's quite satisfying knowing that people are blogging, telling people about what interests them etc. Hey, it keeps them off the streets! Unless they're blogging about their street habits! I have my interests and I don't particularly care what people think to my interests (it's buses by the way - don't ask what got me into them, it's hard to answer but one thing is for sure, I didn't start liking buses at 4 years old because other people like them!)

Perhaps artists selling CD's do so because they like singing and making music, the money is just a secondary result to their main aim and that's to ensure their happiness.

May I suggest you get a hobby? Then again, you've pretty much ruled out most things that could be considered a hobby or an interest because they could be deemed popular.

To be honest, I don't know why you're on here griping. Just get on with life and enjoy it, there are always things that are going to make you moan. People will agree. People will disagree. People will tell you what they think, others won't. Enjoy yourself the best you can though can't see how that's going to happen seing as you won't buy CD's, watch movies, read fiction books... can I go to the extent of socialising? Now I'm confused... what do you if you feel like how you do?

you're so willing to be non-conformist that you're actually just becoming like the rest of the world! being non-conformist is like the new conformity. everyone must be individual and rebel against the world, and idols of beauty and popularity. you say everyone else can't cope with life, well neither can you! why doesn't everyone try just being who they are, and doing what they feel like. who cares if the person on the CD case wants to be famous, if you like it, buy it! stop with the whole act of hating the pretty people and get a life.

I do agree with you, though it depresses me to say so, because you sound exactly like my brother, and he goes on and on about this until I have to shut him up before I kill myself. (See ParteeeyGurrlz8921496 blog for more hilarious details of this and LOTTS more of my wacky adventures with my crazy folks, nutty m8s 'n' my hunky, cutest ever bf !!!!!!!!)

I started my blog www.noexcusebudget.com and www.coastalmotors.com so that people can learn money skills to have a better life, a blog helps me do this. Now I guess if I was to just write about my normal life I'd agree with you. You are right teens should not blog. It's dangerous. However there are lots of blogs that are really benefitial. Keep up the gripes!

Wendy reading some of those replies you should be proud of your self you obviously hit a nerve people hate to be exposed, I understand exactly what your saying and why you used a site like this to say it.
Mention big brother to anyone and they will say--- well turn it off--- what they dont realise is in searching channels for something worthy you accidently saw 3seconds of it and instantly new what a pile of cr-p it was and find yourself at a complete loss when you realise half the so called sane world seems to follow it.
What else bothers me is the passion involved with supporting football, ITS A GAME, with all the serious issues that one could become passionate about children without arms blown off in wars that should never have been, people living in unsanitary conditions old people still dying because they cant afford to pay for a quality of life in Great Britain of all places.
But your still more likely to get a pint pot in your face because somebodys team lost what a sad group off people they are, obviosly I am not talking about all 48,000 supporters so dont all reply hey!

Oh! Dear, the writter doesnt like websites, bloggs, people talking about themselves!!??!! Then proceded to tell us all about how much they hate the world and everything in it! The writer obviously hasnt been to officebomb.com...........Have you??
*Sascha  02-Nov-2006 23:45

OK the writer was having a bit of a bad day. But don't be too hard on her/him - she is making a valid point about the banality and superficiality of modern life and how people CELEBRATE it whilst thinking themselves very original and clever (which is weird). I am not a bloggy person but I imagine they are quite amusing. But there's a loneliness to them too. No-one's listening/watching, so talk about your life on a blog to strangers. Though I am sure some of them are interesting / funny (after all why should Samuel Pepys and modern-day journalists have all the fun?) I think the writer does have a valid point about alot of the banality that is going on, and it can be quite annoying!!!!
*notduped  02-Nov-2006 20:44

So you don't actually like anything, just complaining about how everything else in the world should change while you stay the same. You should change, put a positive head on, then the whole universe changes right infront of you. But I know you won't try that.
*A sad slapper  19-Jul-2006 01:56

Being popular isn't necessarily a bad thing. Some fads are a bit over the top (ie. Macarena craze), but some fads can open your mind (Sudoku). And, if everyone stopped buying things that were "popular," other things would be equally "popular" due to redirected efforts. If you don't like blogs, stop reading them. If you don't like people, don't talk to them. If you're unhappy, don't spread it around. You're just as bad for posting here as any other blogger out there.

Sell your PC, then we ALL will be happy.

You don't HAVE to read/write anything.

Not sure I understand the Gripe? You are using a piece of technology, which by definition is one BIG consumer paradise. Even if you only log on to use online banking, the page you open will have adverts for other consumer services. You are falling over yourself in contradictions, if you want to live in a bubble, or you want a controlled environment, may I suggest you move to Castros Cuba, or for less than 2 million quid, you can buy one of the summer islands , live alone , and have nothing to whine about.
