I don't get many calls at work as we normally correspond by email. In the rare occasion when my phone does ring I have recently hesitated and dreaded picking it up especially in the afternoon around 3 o'clock.  Why?  Well because I am sick and tired of getting cold calls from a T-Mobile call centre in India.

They wanted to offer me a free mobile

No joke, everyone in my department has received one of these calls so far.  There was a time when everyone had received their call but me and I started to feel left out.  Now I get at least two calls every day.  The first time I got a call, this little Indian voice asked me if I had a mobile.  I told them I did.  They said they wanted to offer me a free mobile connected to T-mobile.  What's the catch I wondered as you don't get anything for free nowadays.
So I decided to tell them I wasn't interested and hung up.

Another free mobile offer, mobile phone operator cold calling

The next couple of times they rang I told them I wasn't interested straight away but they still continued to talk obviously to try and change my mind.  Some times when they ring and you pick up the phone, the line is actually silent.  If you wait long enough you will hear an automated message asking you to hold the line as someone is trying to call you.  Then, surprise surprise, you get a distant Indian voice and you know it's them again.

The last time I got this automated message I decided to transfer the call to our fax machine.  I must say I did get a sense of satisfaction out of that one!

I am hoping that the calls have actually stopped now because the last call I had was a couple of days ago.  This time I actually interrupted them just as they started their spiel and told them to remove my number from their records as this was the fifth phone call I had received and I was sick and tired of receiving calls from them everyday.  And guess what happened?  They hung up on me.  How rude?  Well, all I can say is that after this experience I won't even consider a T-Mobile phone as I've not got a very good opinion of them right now.

In regards to the comments about t-mobile and the network 3..... The calls are not from the company directly they are from independent companies that sell on behalf of all networks ... The majority of the time the reason is when u first take out the contract it wouldnt have been from the companies directly it would have been e.g carphone warehouse or dial phone your details are put on a data base where all companies can get information for example the time your upgrade is due or even just your mobile number. No personal details should be held there under the data protection act. Like one commented the only relation between the network and the companies is that they are able to offer contracts on their behalf thier contracts dont say u have to contact people to take a contract..... There is a company that u are able to contact which u can do via phone best to use landline to not get extra charges on your bill or visit the website free . Dont think able to advertise the website so if u contact your network providers they will be able to provide you with the details I know 100% that t-mobile are more than happy to provide there details and im sure all of them will. Best tip when you take out contract for first time or an upgrade go directly to the network provider they do not reveal any of your details and your details are able to be viewed only by the companies themselves.

In response to the person who suggested speaking to the caller and requesting not to be called again - how many times do you need to do this? I have been called 15 times this week, have spoken to them on 5 occasions and each time have been promised that I will not be called back

Ok, if you get this number calling you, don't answer - they'll be hounding you for weeks.

08000821135

They're trying to help people in debt which is lovely but I'm wasting my hard-earned money calling them to tell them to go away. Why not just answer the call, I hear you ask...I have done but when you answer, the phone goes dead. They only give you a couple of seconds to answer. They you have to call back (which is chargeable) to say 'go away'.
*Not in debt, thank you very much....  20-Aug-2009 13:18

I get 16 calls a day from the Debt Advisory Helpline. I didn't give them my number but no matter how many times I call them and ask to be taken off their list, they keep calling. It's been 2 weeks now - I've had enough.

In fact, I'm going to write a gripe of my own about it!

Does anyone else get calls from 07772229303? Don't recognise the number and they're trying to sell something. It's a bit unfair when they start trying to sell you something from a mobile phone.

I got a call today from this number 027112001100 claiming that he was from the carphone warehouse company or something like that! he said my surname, eg miss *smith* (im just putting a fake name there to explain) and he asked me to confirm MY address with HIM so that he knows that he's speaking to the right person! excuse me but I was like, how do I know that IM speaking to the right person!

He just kept repeating it to get the information out of me but I didnt give it to him. His other excuse was so that he could give me the right offers. Claiming to sell insurance or something because he knew that I recently brought a phone from carephone warehouse! In the end, he couldnt get nothing out of me and we said our goodbyes!

BEWARE! do not give your information out! I dont trust these people claiming all sorts....
