Reality TV shows aren't real life
|
Television has changed forever and not necessarily for the better in my opinion. My concern is with that certain type of show known as ‘Reality TV’. |

It would seem that there is absolutely no way of escaping this nonsense. On just about every television station, there is at least one reality show; and sadly, they are becoming very popular here in the UK. The public are regularly subjected to reality tv shows like "Big Brother" and "I’m a celebrity get me out of here". I just can’t understand why people would want to watch this rubbish. It’s even worse in the United States by all accounts, because the subject matter there goes from the sublime to the ridiculous! |

Who says lying on the beach of Laguna is reality anyway? Who really wants to watch people go on dates, or watch the ‘played out’ lives of teenagers with so much money they don't know what to do with it? I certainly don't. Plus, what really ARE the restrictions to getting on one of these reality tv shows? And who says lying on the beach of Laguna is reality anyway? When that's defined as reality, my dog will speak fluent English! I even came across this stupid reality tv show where people go off and have plastic surgery so they can look like someone famous, it’s called “I want a famous face”. Can you believe that? What on earth is wrong with these people? I don’t think that this is really a good message to be sending out to people. How about the cops and firemen who are risking their lives every day, and the people suffering from cancer? Isn't that reality? I think Television should rethink what is reality and what's not. |

Whilst I have no problem with reality / talent shows, the veiwing public should not have it forced on them on practically all channels at prime time veiwing. Neither should we be forced to watch endless repeats of these show, or variations from other countries at prime time, I mean really Who is interested in X Factor USA if your in the UK ?
It has got to such a bad state with current UK TV programming that I have taken to downloading TV shows from the internet and have stopped watching television, now I am but one person, but if only 1 in a 100 are doing the same then the numbers mount up extremely quickly and these are numbers that should be watching and being exposed to advertising from the UK.

If you never watch big brother then why are you able to compare the first with the last in terms of the people in it? You seem to know a lot about it.
Big Brother is not the beginning of mind control! It is just very cheap and easy to make; companies will keep producing this rubbish as long as people go on watching it.
Real mind control is accepting CCTV surveillance everywhere and laws which limit our freedoms.
"Reality TV " is the begining of mind control.
The governments of the world are all buying into this as it continues to dumb the general population down.
When people are dumb the expect less, want less and are generally happy with less.
Take a close look at the people around you that "Would never miss BB".
They can all be described with one word.
MORON.
Look at the "housemates" from BB series 1 and compaire them to the morons in whatever number the last series was.
SWITCH OFF PEOPLE!
I hope this helps.

Isn't there something we can do about it?

The big problem is that one is almost 'bullied' into watching. Here in GB, it's impossible to get away from them! Switching to another channel or turning the TV off is not enough! For example, The BBC and ITV will wax lyrical about Channel 4's Big Brother. ITV will go on about BBC's Strictly Come Dancing and Last Choir Standing whilst the BBC drones on about ITV's X Factor, I'm a Celeb, Get Me Out of Here and Dancing on Ice!!!!! I turn on the radio and the same thing happens, BBC radio is on about BB, Dancing on Ice and I'm a Celeb!!!! And dont talk abpout the tabloid press in all this...hype, hype, hype!
The sooner this type of programming comes to an end the better. However, it will not happen as long as people allow themselves to act like sheep and be easily manipulated.

WE NEED TO PUT A STOP TO THIS NOW!!. A lot of these shows go on because of the high viewing figures, this is not always the case, many people will just leave the TV on and not even be watching it. Or some people watch reality TV because there is nothing else on, well this is due to the other channels not wanting to compete with 'I used to be a celeb', 'big bro', 'I cant dance but I'll try anyway' etc etc.
My point is if we turn the TV off when they are on eventually they will get decomisioned and channels will start putting better dramas/films on. Please Please Please join me in trying bring back good TV!!!
If there is nothing on TV then read a book, go to the Gym, spend time with your partner ANYTHING! just dont submit to watching celebs jumping through a hole in the wall.
Dont forget we are paying a TV license to watch this stuff WHY WHY WHY are we doing this???????
Stop this garbage now!
IT IS PURE TRASH - TRAILER TRASH
Television programming is at the all time low.
MORONIZING THE MASSES.

It's about the real, (non-acted), actions of the people in the bizarre situations on television. Not "reality" its self.
It's not necessarily meant to be enjoyed, like most modern art infact. Just to provoke a reaction. Which it clearly has done to great effect. Well done everyone.
